I'll be rooting for the lower seeds tonight, not because it might prove an advantage for my school this weekend, but because maybe some people who make big decisions might see the light and decide a four team tournament is not the best idea for these student athletes.

I have no idea how far along this process really is, from what I hear its far enough, but maybe there's a glimmer of hope that the Presidents and AD's can compromise and give the MIAA a 6 team tournament.  Seeing the lower seeds win tonight might just provide enough evidence that leaving the 5-8 seeds out of this is not such a good idea.

You're rooting for Alma? I think this is a sign of the apocalypse.

First it's CM rooting for Calvin and now it's sac openly rooting against Hope. What next? Half the Michigan legislature fleeing Lansing for Columbus:o

I'm all for that if I get to pick which half   ;D

They could form an interesting gathering in Rockford IL.

Hope falls to #4 in the latest regional rankings. I don't get it either.

The committee obviously likes Marietta's inferior WP and SOS. What don't you get?  ::)

PSU-B's regional record is missing a loss. Nice.

As I recall last season's end of year regional ranking drew alot of ????'s.

Both Hope and Marietta lost last week, and then Marietta needed a last second shot to win on Saturday.

This makes no sense.

I have them both as 0-0 versus regionally ranked.

They haven't played head to head.

Have they played a common in-region opponent?

Hope has a clear primary criteria advantage here. It's not close, really.

I was thinking the same thing.

No common opponents.
Your numbers check out versus the NCAA's, it is the result that doesn't check out.

I will be taking in the Olivet/Adrian game tonight

These two have played two very low scoring games this year, both Olivet wins.
53-51 http://miaa.org/mbb/stats/1011/0108olad.htm

45-38 http://miaa.org/mbb/stats/1011/0203olad.htm

One of these wins for Olivet is the difference in this game being played at Olivet or this game being played in Adrian.  We can thank Nathan Jennings for that, his last second 20 footer won the  game for Olivet the first time, and like a butterfly in Africa flapping its wings .......everything else fell into place.

----------------------------

Kzoo at Albion

Kzoo beat every team but Hope and Albion, for whatever reason the Britons gave the Hornets fits this year winning by 10 and 9.   Albion is trying to return to the semi's after missing last year.

Trine at Calvin

Trine played Calvin close at least margin wise twice, losing by 6 and 4.  Both teams went 4-3 the second half of the league season.  After a two week stumble, the Knights enter the tournament with the longest winning streak in the league of 3 games.

Alma at Hope

Hope won game 1 by 31, game 2 by 14 and needed a second half rally to do that.  Alma has not been a good road team in league play with 6 road losses by double-digits.  A win for Hope brings the semi-finals to Holland.

I have it on good authority that Kevin Kooiker is at Van Noord Arena and he didn't buy a ticket to get in the building. Season's over.

Too bad he didn't pay for admission, it looks like a grand total of maybe 200 people at VNA tonight...great showing from the Calvin faithful

Why would you think Hope would or should be ranked higher than Marietta?  Reputation?

The OAC is top to bottom the better league year in and year out.  They went 16-2 in that league.  If I were the Pioneers I would be upset they are not ahead of Wooster too.  The NCAC is the weakest league of the three in the GL region every year.

Hope better win their first two league tourney games or they may be on the outside loking in come next week.

Show me one primary criteria set by the NCAA that warrants Marietta ranked ahead of Hope. I'll save you the time, there isn't one.

It probably isn't a good idea to come stomping on the turf of the people that happen to understand the process the best without one shred of NCAA relevant data that supports your position.
