This was a small taken from this Holland Sentinel article about the tournament chanages....
http://www.hollandsentinel.com/newsnow/x700950875/MIAA-tournament-format-for-all-sports-changing-this-fall

The change is not a cost-cutting move designed to save money on travel for league tournament events, Neilson said. The league could potentially lose money from quarterfinal basketball games that won't be held anymore

The foll0wing two paragraphs are also interesting (and encouraging):

Neilson said league members still are discussing what tiebreaking formats will be used in the event they are needed.

Neilson said he would prefer the league avoid using coin flips that came into play for women's basketball seeding this winter.

Calvin has held J.C. Cruse to a combined 1-14 in their previous 2 games.  He's scored 6 points in those 2 games.  If Calvin does that again tonight I like their chances.

For Cruse vs. Calvin this year. 1 of 14 shots made, and 4 of 14 shots blocked. :) I like those numbers.

I don't think the UAA has a conference tourney (there cost does seem to be a factor), but they often get multiple teams in the tourney. An interesting point of comparison perhaps.

The UAA is the only league in D3 that doesn't have a tourney, but, believe me, cost is not a factor. There are countries in Africa whose annual GDP does not equal the endowment of a UAA school. ;)

I know, I have coveted them in my heart on a number of occasions. But they didn't get endowments that size by throwing money away.

If that continues tonight, the Knights should win a third time against the Brits.

Looks like Massey's saying something like:

Calvin over Albion by 1
Hope over Adrian by 8

Hope over Calvin by 5
(Hope over Albion by 6)
(Calvin over Adrian by 3)

Happy Calvin Guy

Yes, but I heard KVS on the Trine post game radio show this week mention how hard it is to beat a team 3 times in a season.  I had to chuckle when I heard him say that.

I'm suddenly feeling fondly toward Massey...   ;)

Toward FDF, not so much.  He's dug himself a hole w/ those comments about work around the house, LOL. :D

The UAA's advantage in getting multiple teams in the NCAA tourney has more to do with the conference being spread over several regions than it does with their lack of a conference tourney.

Was hoping to make the drive around the lake this afternoon but, alas, that's not going to happen.   Will probably head over to North Central's airplane hangar and catch the CCIW games instead.

Best of luck to all the teams tonight, looking forward to a couple good games.

Go Hope!

Could Adrian repeat what they did to Hope in 2004?

We shall see...
