Mr. Ypsi

The absence of MIAA teams in the tourney sure turned this into MSU vs. Michigan awfully fast! :D

For the record, I'm a Michigan guy.  They appear to be in (though it may take a win over Illinois to guarantee it).  Once #2 MSU probably needs two wins in the Big Ten tourney to get in.  [I'd actually like to see them both in, but Spartans' fans, good luck! ;D]

It was night of total respect by both teams and fans.  The amount of media was large.

One of the local TV stations here in Lansing made the highlights a part of the regular high school basketball roundup tonight as if Fennville were a local team and they led their news broadcast with a short story about the day for the two teams.

Sportscenter just had a nice segment on the game as a whole and included interviews with the players and coaches. Looked like they sent a few people to the game tonight as well. I don't know if I said this before, but that just shows the kind of blessing it is for students to go to institutions like Hope and Calvin. I remember when the two Hope students were in the plane crash last year and Calvin had a chapel service for prayer for Hope. Tonight the game between Fenville and Lawrence showed that even opposing athletic teams can still seperate the competition from the personal and show compassion. From the sound of it Hope did a superb job of accommodating the teams this evening and I would expect nothing less out of that institution.

Did anyone else hear Trine Head Basketball Coach, Rob Harmon resigned and took an assistant AD's job at Trine?  A lot a talent at Trine should make it a popular job.  With the new President they have been making athletics a priority.  Should be interesting???

"Trine men's basketball coach Rob Harmon was promoted to assistant athletic director and will leave the sidelines. He was 80-115 in eight season. "

I think they call that the "spin" cycle. ;)

Fennville was the lead story on the late news on WLS here in Chicago last night, too.

Here's the press release:

Pat Coleman

That's Trine's release. Somehow doesn't mention the win-loss record and hardly even acknowledges basketball. I always make sure we slow down the spin cycle at least a little bit when we post it on the site, which is what Realist posted from.

I read the release.   By spin I was only meaning Trine was trying to put a good face on the move from part-time assistant AD to full time assistant AD.

I wonder if our Trine posters will have any insight into the move...

Yeah, the same little U of M that has made a lot more than 2 NCAA tournaments in the last 14 years....
