I have to confess that I'm more than a little annoyed that Hope didn't crack the final Top 25.

Right there with you on that, in fact I'm down right upset!

If it is any consolation at all, it looks like Hope will finish around 17th in the Posters' Poll.  (I'm still waiting on a few ballots, but 'hope' ;) to post it later tonight.)

Hope ended the season ranked #18 in RPI (including ALL games against D3 and ONLY games against D3, including NCAAs).

A late surge of support took Hope up to #14 in the Posters' Poll.

That is some consolation, I suppose. I know that in a certain sense it doesn't mean much, other than I don't think this team got the recognition it deserved. For that matter, neither did Bowser.

Well, I suppose you could always put up a banner or something. ;)

Hey, if Hope wants a banner proclaiming their position in my Posters' Poll, I'll even pay for it! ;D

And, HC, I had Will Bowser in the Fantasy Pool - does that count for anything? ;)

According to Stephen Bell, Calvin gets a "steal" recruit from Holland Chr -- "plays like Scotty Pippen."  Hmmmmmm.

Now we just need MJ to commit as well.

I saw Dykstra play a couple times this year.  I think he still has some developing to do before he can contribute.  He has good potential.

hoopdreams

speaking of large, cerebral, white post players, Mr. Bell is also reporting that 6'10"Jenison center, and Hope-recruit Jason Pretzer has commited to Hillsdale.  I think dykstra will contribute on one side of the floor immediately, and even though skilled offensively will take a couple years before becoming "a force".  The "Twin Tylers" will definitely cause headaches in and around the hoop.

True. There's a Michael Fabiyi and a Jordan Brink, so maybe we're all set in that department.

Pat Coleman

I hadn't thought of it in this context but Hope was the last team out in the Top 25 and Bowser was basically the last forward out on the All-American team. Kinda sucks, sorry.

It's Calvin, so if you get a player who has the same name as a former Chicago Bull it'll most likely be either Tom Boerwinkle or Norm Van Lier.

How about a current player--Kyle Korver perhaps?

Probably, not perhaps. There are Dutch people with that surname, which means "herring fisherman" in de Nederlandse taal, and the fact that Kyle Korver is from Pella, IA almost certainly proves that he's Dutch-American. But the name also means "basketmaker" in German, korf being an old Plattdeutsch term for "basket", and there are people of German ancestry who have that name as well. No offense, but the "basketmaker" meaning leads me to hope that, in spite of the fact that he's from one of the most Dutch-oriented towns in America, Kyle Korver is a German-American -- because "basketmaker" is an absolutely perfect name for a deadeye outside shooter like Kyle Korver.
