Mr. Ypsi

What a sad story.  I wonder if it ever occurred to Rickerts that searching for papers in his cab might best be done WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT?!! :o >:(

I too just heard this on the news this morning. NO PERSON OR FAMILY SHOULD EVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH SUCH AN EVENT.  Major prayers are being lifted up for the VandeStreek family.

My second-hand understanding is that Dan's injuries are not life-threatening and that he should be ok. Very thankful for that. Life can change in a heartbeat, can't it?

not to minimize dan's travails at all (thoughts and prayers for sure!), but i thought a lighter change of pace was needed for the board today:

looks like hope/neil has lost it's first recruit of the year (and his career) -- but better here than to a scholarship NAIA local, right? it seems that szostak was even on campus in holland late last week, so that seems like a pretty quick turnaround.

from all accounts there have been plenty potentials in Holland for open gyms the past few weeks but cannot say with complete accuracy their names, just size(s), skills and ability levels. Expect to learn more tonight.

Don't know if this has been shared or confirmed on here but the rumors, thoughts, and fantasies (creepy) of the the big kid from Grand Haven transferring from CMU, do not seem to be transpiring.  Don't know if this rumor ever had any legs or was simply wishful thinking...........

with the wide net that D3 coaches have to cast in order to recruit, this kid is not the first, nor last recruit to choose a different path.  Neil showed no intererst in Dykstra or Pretzer amongst others?  They were at plenty of Hope games.

A little recruiting buzz from the Calvin camp:

Ryan Nadeau, the point guard for Class B quarter-finalist Dearborn Divine Child, has indicated he is coming to Calvin.

oldknight will recall that Divine Child spoiled Hudsonville Unity Christian's quest for a perfect season in the Class B state finals at Crisler Arena in 1973.  Trivia test:  Who coached Divine Child during that state championship year?

Trivia Answer: Bill McCartney

Any updates on Coach VandeStreek's son?

Thanks!

On Thursday Dan responded to the doctor's command to wiggle his toes. Right now they are keeping him sedated through the weekend. Here's a quote from Dan's CarePage of 9:00 tonight:

Another "boring" day today, but boring is good. Mostly Dan is
just resting. Couple things to pray for: 1. Dan has a slight fever,
please pray that it will come down. 2. Dan's ICP levels remain low,
which is really good. Because of this, they've tentatively planned
an MRI for Monday. However, in order for this to take place Dan's
ICP levels need to remain low. Please pray for low ICP levels for
tomorrow and Monday.

I'm sure the family has appreciated the support and prayers of the wider D3 hoops community--makes beating your archrival less of a priority.

Not that there's anything wrong with beating your archrival. ;)

Just thought I'd share this.

Was walkin through the hogan center last week and saw the mens bball team had an open gym so I stopped in to watch for a while and next thing I knew, guess who comes strollin in the door with shorts and basketball shoes, Jordan redditt. So I watched him play with our guys for a little bit and thought, "wow. What a difference he couldve made his season. That's the thing we were missin. We had shooters. We had talented - young - but talented post players. But there was no pure scorer"

Just thougt I'd drop my two cents in the piggy bank (oink oink)

Per Steve Bell at the BankHoops forums:

6-9 Paul Lombard from Montague to Olivet.

For those interested, KVS's son, Daniel, is reported to be improving, according to his carepage, awake, breathing on his own, sitting up, and able to talk, but very sore.  He is moving to Mary Freebed (a local rehabilitation hospital) soon.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

I stumbled upon this last night for anyone interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWMqij7FOPs

It looks like we might have another potential Euro Pro from the Hope Family. Who knows WB's intentions, but I can't imagine a Senior year highlight tape serving another purpose other than for pro teams to take a peak.

What's interesting is that I am not sure if this was even triggered by the new financial aid auditing process. (I asked the NCAA but have not gotten an answer yet.)

So, did they self-report the violation?
