I hate the move because I'm a Twins fan! It's an awful move from our point of view!

Mind if I ask how dumping someone you weren't going to resign, a clubhouse cancer and $1.4 million in a year where you aren't going to win is a bad thing? (Holy run-on sentence Batman!) Corner outfielders who are mediocre defensively with no power are a dime-a-dozen. You don't, under ANY circumstance, give a division rival an asset for nothing.

As a White Sox fan, i see this as the Tigers trying to desperately upgrade "Singglio" Ordonez and the Twins thankful to get him off their hands.  IMO, its a situation where neither team will win and neither will lose because neither side gave up anything of value.

Mr. Ypsi

And just as SKOT typed his post, Delmon Young hit a HR in his first AB! ;D

I know, right?! (/removes foot from mouth)  But, I stand by my statement that you don't give a division rival anything of value for the little they got for DY.

Mr. Ypsi

True, but a 5-11, 4.87 pitcher from Lakeland (plus the ever-promising 'player to be named later') doesn't strike me as the Tigers giving up much value.  I think it was basically the Twins officially declaring the season over and dumping a contract.

I trust Leyland not to allow ANY player to become a clubhouse cancer, and since Young has got to realize he was dumped, not traded, I would expect him to be a bit chastened, at least for a while. :P

SKOT

Na, its hard to be too much of a pain when you are only around for 40 games then its contract time.  Even if he resigns with the Tigers, he will be a good citizen for his stay in Detroit.

I like the Tigers' pick up of Delmon Young today. He is only 25 years old.  Jackson, Boesch, and Young in the OF are all young along with Dirks.  Verlander, Porcello, Scherzer, and Pfister are all in their mid 20's.  Cabrera and Avila both under 30.  They have a good nucleus of talent for the next few years.
We have to find a shortstop and 2nd baseman and move Peralta to 3rd.

On another note;  Former Holland Christian football player, Nate Brink, was mentioned by Brady Hoke at Sunday's press conference.  Hoke mentioned him with about 4 or 5 other defenders.  Maybe Brink, a walk on, will see the field the field this year.  Hoke complimented him on his toughness.

I'm not sold on the need to move Johnny away from SS (good hitters can drive terriffic value at the position, and Jhonny' fielding has been 'fine' this year), but if they did, I'd rather see him move to 2B.

Peralta is an adequate fielding shortstop.  He has no range.  Put him at third next year and find a shortstop and 2nd baseman.

Personally I'd like to say that's an awful post. You truly contradicted your own point of view in that first paragraph....

The only transfer I've heard about is a 6-6 kid from Washington, Sandy Ynema I think was his name.

Really good student, and should be a valuable part of the team.
