Since I know you've all been wondering, yes, KnightSlappy can do the Papa Grande dance. The standing room only crowd behind section 134 can attest to that.

That's a pretty bold claim...we need video proof  ;D

Here's to hoping that KnightSlappy gets another chance to do his Papa Grande imitation tonight.  Need to get a good game out of Fister.  Go Tigers!

Also, what are everyone's thoughts on Leyland preemptively saying no way Verlander is used for an inning or two of relief work tonight while Yankees manager Joe Girradi says CC will be available for relief work?  I'm personally not too big a fan of Leyland completely slamming the door shut on that in an elimination game on what would be Verlander's typical scheduled off day throwing session anyways.  I think you've got to see how the game is going and what the circumstances are and be adaptable.

There's a difference between an elimination game and a regular season game.

So you now agree that KVS should have altered  his "scheme" in past MIAA tournament title games?  But that might beg the question why not do it in other games, and than we get into that..................................................................... ;)

I spent the evening last night with Mrs. OldKnight, ArtPrizing in downtown GR. The possibility that doing this would gain me major brownie points heading into hoops season never once crossed my mind. What a surprise when I ran across a work in the Public Museum done by former Hope star and Steve Honderd nemesis, Wade Gugino. Not only did the former three-time All-MIAA selection have a piece in the contest, it was a Top 25 finisher. 8-) It's a pretty sophisticated work of art.

The Holland Sentinel mentioned it in May.

I liked Wade's work, too, but I'm a bigger fan of the triptych created for ArtPrize by Mrs. oldknight's sister. ;D

Wade Gugino made regular cartoon contributions to the Hope student paper "The Anchor" and designed a Hope/Calvin rivalry t-shirt that was popular among the students back then.......a long time ago.

By the way, I've even overheard people here in Lansing talking about ArtPrize so its having a wide ranging influence.

I was wondering on the equation regarding % of assists, you subtracted the FGs made by the player, but shouldn't you subtract out the unassisted FGs as well?  Thoughts?

I don't think so. We're not trying to see what percentage of assists come from a particular player, we're trying to see what percentage of field goals a particular player assists on.

According to Calvin's Homecoming schedule--during Homecoming and Family Weekend--the Calvin men's team will hold an open (sneak peek) practice next week Saturday, October 22 at 2 pm at Van Noord Arena. Made to order for those of you who can't wait for the first game. The women's team will do the same thing (also at Van Noord) beginning at 10 am the same day.
