Tonight's game:  Hope at Western Michigan

Western will probably put this starting 5 on the floor,

G Demetrius Ward  6-3 Sr.
G Mike Douglas  6-0 Sr.
G Austin Richie 6-2 Fr.
F Flenard Whitfield 6-7 Sr.
F Nate Hutcheson  6-7 Jr.
C Matt Stainbrook  6-9  So.

Bench: C Shayne Whittington 6-10 So, G David Brown 6-3 So.........these 3 will probably play, along with others, but have not played in all 6 WMU games.  G Jayden Hoerdemann 6-3 , G Brandon Pokley 6-4,  F Dan Loney 6-4.   Ward and Stainbrook are the Broncos leading scorers, though their starting 5 is pretty balanced.

Douglas is out with injury, so Ward will play point, Richie starts as the shooting guard.

Against massively better competition than Hope, the Broncos have struggled to shoot 3's, currently under 30% which for D1 is horribly terrible.  Also horribly terrible has been their FT shooting which comes in at 61%.   A stat to watch might be turnovers, WMU has more turnovers than assists and they haven't created a lot of turnovers themselves.....the usual level of competition qualifiers apply.   WMU has played a very tough schedule thus far, massey has it at #2 in D1.

Should be fun.

I was just looking through some MIAA numbers, and I was shocked about how little impact VanArendonk is having on the stat sheets. I know he didn't play at CMU last year, but dang. Is this just a case of him still feeling things out, or is this a concern? (I understand it's early)

Nate's production has always been disappointing relative to his physical prowess, so not too surprising.

Thanks for the link CM.  Babbitt refers in the article to Hope being "34 point underdogs" which is a reference to Graham Couch's prediction, not some actual Vegas betting line. 

But it got me thinking....would it be fun to do the MIAA Pick 'Em this year "against the spread", possibly using the Massey model to set the line?  That could be an alternative to the confidence points system.

Do you have to pay for the Hope v WMU live feed? If so, that is disappointing.
