Hope in the running for another D1 transfer with family ties to school?  Word just broke that Rockford grad, Ryan Majerle transfered out of Toledo.  Will Hope try to top Adrian's new pick-up ;).  Played AAU with NVA I believe....

Majerle also played high school ball with Calvin's Brent Henry and former Knight Jake Greene, if that means anything...

And his mother works in admissions at Alma...

True....but also a Hope grad.

That would mean he could come play for Coach Hargraves for free though....

Seven games today as everyone except Alma is in action. All times eastern.

Albion vs. UW-Platteville (WIAC) @ Otterbein, 3 PM -- It's the consolation game of Ott's tournament, and an out-of-region D3 game. Platteville comes in with a decent 7-5 record, but none of the wins are all that impressive, and one of the losses at home against Finlandia. Still, smart money is probably on Platteville.

Adrian at Millikin (CCIW), 3:50 PM -- Another out-of-region D3 game. Millikin is a member of the always strong CCIW, but they may be about the worst team that league has seen (Massey ranks the Big Blue at #355, 78 spots below the MIAA's lowest team, Alma). Adrian should win this one comfortably.

Olivet vs. Marian IN @ Wittenberg, 4:30 PM -- Marian (IN) is an NAIA-II team that's already played Hope and Kalamazoo. The Dutchmen beat them by 16, and the Hornets lost by 9. It would be a good win for Olivet, but I'd guess a double-digit loss is more likely.

Trine vs. Lakeland (NATHC) @ Defiance, 5 PM -- This is at least the fourth year in a row that an MIAA team has participated in Defiance's Purple and Gold Tournament. Both teams come into the game with winning records (Trine at 6-3, Lakeland at 5-2), but they've both done the damage against soft schedules. Massey gives the four point edge to Lakeland -- it should be a good game. Oh yeah, it's in-region too which makes it one of the more important games of the day for the league. Out of region, so no big deal.

Kalamazoo vs. UW-LaCrosse (WIAC) @ St. Norbert, 6 PM -- An out-of-region D3 game. Kzoo versus WIAC is never good matchup on paper. LAX's last two games were a 33 point win over North Park (CCIW), and a 19 point win over Carleton (MIAC).

#20 Marietta (OAC) at #15 Hope, 8 PM -- The only true home game of the day for the MIAA is perhaps the biggest game of the day. It's an in-region battle between two ranked teams. Massey, however, doesn't think much of this contest giving Marietta just an 8% chance of winning with a predicted score of 82-68 in favor of the home team. I think this game will show that #20 is way too high for the Pioneers right now, and that #15 might be a bit low for Hope.

Calvin vs. #8 Whitworth (NWC) @ Seattle, WA, 8:30 PM -- A fourth out-of-region D3 game for the MIAA. This one appears to be a tall order for the Knights. Whitworth's losses come against NAIA-I Montana Tech and #16 UW-Whitewater.

Plymouth, WI and Angola, IN are about 308 miles apart, I don't see under what criteria this is in-region.  ???

Albion is tied with UW-Platteville at halftime 27-27.

Kolin Kazen has been struggling lately. In the last 60 minutes of Albion basketball, he's only recorded 6 points on 2-11 shooting.

Terrible/Sad news:  Calvin player Mitch Vallie broke his arm this morning and is most likely out for the season.  Mitch is a great guy, a great teammate, and has improved so much since last year.  I can only hope that his recovery is faster than anticipated.

I'd guess they'll add TJ Huizenga to the roster for the remainder of the year.

Well, that's another difficult piece of news for the Knights this season.  Any info on how this happened?  I'm assuming it was during a practice session/shootaround in Seattle, but that's purely an assumption.

I was not able to make the drive to Seattle today... Looking forward to seeing the two Dutch team meet via satellite.
