Doesn't look like we get stats for this one.

We won't get much audio either.  Certainly won't get much emotion.

After reading your posts about the broadcast, I tuned in for a few minutes tonight to see how it sounded.  All I can say is WOW!!  Might need to record that as a cure for insomnia

I'll never complain about Doug Wentworth again.   Ever.

Let's take a few steps back here. Brad Draayer is simply a former student assistant from the Calvin SID office that lives in Washington. Let's not fault him/Calvin for trying to get the game on the air.

Halftime score at Lynden, WA
Calvin 37
Whitman 37

Sounds like Calvin has turned it over 58 times already. We'll have to see how the official stats turn out.

I'll remember that promise.

You know I will.

Mickey Devries with 9, Snikkers and DeBoer with 8 points. Tyler Kruis with 3 first half fouls again.

Good point.  I was complaining previously and I'll take it back.  Brad is actually improving and getting more comfortable as the game progresses.  He can't be held responsible for the early technical difficulties and he definitely knows his basketball better than our regular guy.  Not as colorful but much more informative.

Calvin plays poorly in the second half and drops under .500 on the season with another loss on the west coast.
Final:
Whitman 84
Calvin 67

Out of curiosity, is Brad the brother of Andy Draayer?

I saw Andy play only once (at Wheaton in the CCIW/MIAA challenge; don't remember if it was Wheaton or Carthage that he torched), and it has served ever since as a reminder not to put TOO much stock in a single game.  THAT night he was a d3 POY - at least 6 3s, usually a hand in his face and at least a couple of times literally falling out of bounds.  One of the best performances I've ever personally seen.  Yet, overall, a very good player, but not THAT special.

Good luck to Hope.  As we all know, Illinois Wesleyan is the only real IWU!  Indiana is an imposter, Iowa is IWC (I believe), and Idaho seems to be virtually the only state without a Wesleyan! 8-)

I've heard this vocalized as "I-woo" for Indiana Wesleyan, and "I-W-U" for Illinois Wesleyan. Anyone know if that's generally the case, or if it just so happened to be in the few instances I've heard people speak about each school.

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and know many people who attended Illinois Wesleyan and we regularly referred to Illinois Wesleyan as "I-woo" so I don't think it's necessarily a general reference.
Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.

I've often used the vocalization 'I-woo'.

To my wife (who has no ties to IWU) it was "I wuv U", but then I am both romantic and weird! 8-)

Nice article about Hope's Josh Holwerda in today's Grand Rapids Press:

Hopefully this is a preview of what we can expect from Josh in the future.

We regularly refer to Illinois Wesleyan as several different things, and I don't think they're necessarily good references. ;)

Until looking at the boxscore this morning I had not realized Hope's starters were only on the floor for just barely half the game last night.

The MIAA finished the non-conference portion of the schedule 44-43.  This isn't great, nor bad and as I mentioned yesterday its the first time in 6 years the league finishes above .500.

2005  46-38  .548
2006  52-34  .605
2007  27-51  .346
2008  34-44  .386
2009  35-46  .432
2010  38-50  .432
2011  43-43  .500
2012  44-43  .506

What makes this pretty unusual I think is that two of the conferences 'usual suspects' have been pretty suspect.  Albion and Calvin combined to go just 9-13.
