Did he ever play JV or was he at the end of the bench from day one?

A case of bringing a guy up too soon?

Nate king was on Varsity from day 1.  He was offered to play both JV and varsity to get game experience but he turned it down

I realize I'm a little late in responding to the conversation about diminishing attendance at VNA, but I'll add my two cents worth now.  At college we now have students that didn't get involved in attending high school sports and still feel that way about college sports.  The school I teach at not long ago had a Homecoming parade complete with floats from grades 7-12.  Now there are no floats and no parade, because it was such a headache to get students to build them.  These students are now at college and I recently returned to my reunion at Hope to see there was no parade or floats.  Why, because no one wanted to do them.  I also find that students are rather ambivalent about attending sporting events if they aren't part of the team.  A team with a lackluster record will keep, all but the die hard fans, at home.

Welcome F1996.  +K   It is hard for some of us older posters to realize that what was isn't now. :)
That doesn't mean today's generation is wrong, and it doesn't mean the older generaton is wrong.  We simply need to acknowledge that "the times they are a changing".   Personally I feel sorry for today's generation in that they aren't allowed the luxury of building some of the long lasting ties that our generation enjoyed making.  Perhaps time will prove that what is going on today is bettter than what we experienced.  If so you are blessed, and if not than..........

Getting the Livestats and it appears the Dutchmen came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders in the second half.  Baring a second half meltdown of Biblical proportions, looks like Hope has this one wrapped up.

Flash1996

Alma 78 Calvin 71 with 6:48 to play in 2nd half.

As the only MIAA school on the list, all a Bulldog coach needs to do now is find a socially-awkward (but not physically-awkward ;)) seven-footer!

(I have no clue whether this article was meant to be complimentary to more accepting schools, or a slam on student bodies.  Whatever.  Just found it intriguing and thought I'd pass it on.)

I know I shouldn't say anything on this topic but..... GVW was on a role at that point in bringing up freshmen. In his last few years as coach, it felt like he brought at least 2-3 freshmen a year. Now I do think a lot of these players were worthy of it but they did take spots from some JV players that had put in their time and deserved to find their way on to the roster even if it meant ridding the end of the pine... I do understand that not every recruit/player develops the way you hope.... Even with all that said though, It is not very often that you see a freshmen make varsity and not move up the depth chart in those 4 years.

Calvin & Alma going to OT tied at 88. Didn't see that one coming....
