Albion 62 Trine 58
Calvin 100 Alma 99 OT
Adrian 72 Olivet 59
Hope 87 Kalamazoo 59

standings with +/-........+1 for road wins/-1 for home losses

Hope          11-0       +5--MIAA Champion and #1 seed
Adrian        7-4        +2
Calvin         7-4        +1
Trine          6-5        +1
Albion         5-6        -1
Alma          3-8        -2
Kzoo          3-8        -3
Olivet         2-9        -3--eliminated

Congratulations to Hope for winning its second consecutive MIAA Championship.  Its probably just me, but I don't think these two have been as easy as they've looked.

As previously mentioned tonight results officially eliminate Kzoo, Alma and Olivet from the MIAA's half-tournament.  Hope's win also assures the Dutchmen they will host the 1 vs 4  half-tournament semi-final.

Adrian and Calvin's wins don't clinch anything but they have a strong leg in the door to the half-tournament.  Some funky looking tie-breakers could go down if things get goofy in the next 3 games.  A couple of deciding factors in the tie-breakers are games that have yet to be played.

Albion's win was of course the most important development with the half-tournament seeding as it keeps the Britons alive.  Albion has two winnable games left before finishing with Adrian, while Trine still has to play both Calvin and Hope.   That math equals a tie.

Captain Obvious says we'll know more about where teams stand for seedings in the MIAA's half-tournament after Saturday's games.  These tie-breakers could get tricky, but Albion has to keep winning.

I don't know how many noticed but Albion was down by 15 to Trine in the first half.  A 58% FT shooting team in league play made their last 10 to beat the Thunder.

Sometimes you just have to admire a team that never quits fighting regardless of the circumstances they are dealt.   Albion is the epitome of such a team.

Alma's grown feisty this year.

That Sam Hargraves has the Scots playing hard-nosed, smart basketball.  He's going to make a really fine coach for someone the Scots. :)

Fixed your post for you  ;D

Thanks for the help.  Sam's already a really fine coach for the Scots.  But I'll wager you a tin of Wilhelmina peppermints and a case of Blue Moon that he doesn't retire as Alma's head coach.  No offense to Alma, but I think Sam's (pre)destined to land where the lights are brighter.

I don't think Alma has been eliminated yet. They could still potentially win a tiebreaker over both Trine and Albion.

It was indeed a tale of two halves for the Dutchmen last night: a flat and uninspired first half, and a serious second half effort. I'm guessing Neil gave them an earful at halftime. Coach Davs said on the radio after that if Hope comes out like that against Calvin they will be handed their breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

More significantly for the Dutchmen is the potential loss of Chris Ray. He had the look of someone who might not be playing again this year as a result of what I assume is an ankle injury. He was in a walking boot during the second half.

So now it's on to Saturday's rematch. I'll be at a watch party down in Tampa cheering on the Dutchmen.

I think it is:

Head-to-head
record vs. #1 team
record vs. #2 team
record vs. #3 team
....
record vs. #8 team

I know I got an adult Calvin-Hope ticket (my first non-Calvin/Hope student ticket in 6 years  :'( ) Tuesday evening at the box office in the new FAC, so it's my guess there are still tickets available.  I know I saw a sign that said student tickets are sold out

Clearly, sooner or later Sam's going to end up at his alma mater.

according to Calvin's box office website, which I assume updates in real time as tickets are sold, there are approximately 90 tickets left.  I would guess that we might see slightly more than the usual sprinkling of orange and blue in the VNA on Saturday.
