I have conflicting versions of how the tie-breaker is going to work so I think I'll just wait until Saturday.  This whole situation is odd.
-------------------------------------

I meant to post this earlier today but was diverted....

We had 4 double-doubles in the league Wednesday night, one in each game.

Kolin Kazen, Albion 18 points, 14 rebounds
Adam Meier, Adrian 18 points, 14 rebounds
Peter Bunn, Hope  11 points, 14 rebounds
Scott Rogers, Trine 15 points, 11 rebounds

3 other guys just missed it

Joe Prepolec, Kzoo  11 points, 9 rebounds
Alvino Ashley, Olivet 9 points, 10 rebounds
Tom Snikkers, Calvin 11 points, 9 rebounds

26 double-doubles in league play this year, last year there were 33

For the 'almost' don't forget snuggerud 13-9 and (more impressively) krombeen 16-9

3rd time this year Krom missed a double-double by one.  Twice now he has ended with 9 rebounds (20 & 9 against Adrian 1/7 as well as the 16 & 9 at Olivet).  He also had 20 & 9 assists in the last rivalry game.

David is now 2 rebounds away from 400 for his career.  Pretty impressive for a point guard.

He's been kind of a shooting guard, point guard, forward.  Maybe Shoo-poi-ward  or Poi-shoo-ward

I prefer Forshoint Guard  (especially if said with a Jersey accent)   8-)

For obvious reasons Adrian @ Albion is the game of the day Saturday because it means so much to the tournament seedings.

the first time they met....
http://miaa.org/mbb/stats/1112/0125alad.htm

17% first half shooting will lose you a lot of games, probably all of them.  With 3 1/2 minutes to play in the first half it was 35-5 Adrian.  This was never a contest, at one point Adrian led 56-18.

Albion has fought pretty hard to get themselves in this position, each of their last 3 games was pretty much an elimination game for them and each time they've battled back from 2nd half deficits twice and fended off a furious Alma rally to win by 4, 5 and 2.  It's a legitimate question to wonder what Albion has left in the tank.   Do they have enough to fight Adrian knowing it means another game Monday, before they even get the Wednesday semi-final?

Had that the other night with chicken and a couple of egg rolls.  Delicious!!   ;D ;D

Any Calvin road warriors out there could attend the 3 PM game at Olivet, and assuming a Knights' victory, drive ~30 minutes down the road for the 5:30 PM Adrian @ Albion game to root for a tourney bid clinching Bulldog victory.

I like your spunk, HCG, but I can't make either game tomorrow.  I'll be rooting for a double dip. :)

I was just thinking about this, if Alma wins the two against Olivet, and the one at Kalamazoo like they probably should, you're looking at a potential 5 WAY tie for 2nd after today. The stadings would look like this:

Hope 13-0
Adrian 8-5
Trine 8-5
Albion 7-6
Alma 7-6
Calvin 7-6
Kalamazoo 2-10
Olivet 0-13

Then with Albion, Alma, Hope and Calvin wins today it would leave Adrian, Albion, Alma, Calvin, and Trine all at 8-6...

How fun would that be?

On the other hand, Alma could have also lost all 4 games they won making the standings.....

Hope    13-0
Adrian  10-3
Trine     9-4
Albion    8-5
Calvin    7-6
Kzoo     3-10
Olivet    2-11
Alma     0-13

This is clearly Sam Hargraves' fault. ;)

The crazy thing is all teams would be 4-4 against each other, so I have no idea who would go in that case. My guess would be Albion and Trine go home because they haven't beaten a team twice in that group.

Ahh if only, hypotheticals are quite fun though.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

As I sit here and work, I keep an eye on the Calvin/Olivet score, as I will the Adrian/Albion score later. I said it before: the new tournament format has made the final week of the regular season a lot more interesting than it would have been, and the tournament itself no less interesting. I am very happy with the change.

Nice win for the Knights today as the league's best big man was Kruis'n with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Rietema, DeBoer and Powell also with double figures.

It was nice that they won, but I would not classify it as a "nice win" as they let an inferior team hang around until the last minute.

So if Albion wins there in, and with a loss they go home. That will be an interesting one to follow!

According to KVS, the MIAA Commissioner is ruling that Calvin would be out, but the coaches wrote the rule with the intent of the play-in game in this very situation.

KVS said the coaches are "in an uproar".
