So if Albion wins there in, and with a loss they go home. That will be an interesting one to follow!

According to KVS, the MIAA Commissioner is ruling that Calvin would be out, but the coaches wrote the rule with the intent of the play-in game in this very situation.

KVS said the coaches are "in an uproar".

The irony is that if both Calvin and Albion would have lost today, the Knights would have finished in a tie for fourth and there would have been a playin game. Apparently a four way tie for second won't be good enough.

I agree with the coaches, it will definitely suck to have your season end because of a silly tiebreak rule. Unfortunate, but the rules weren't written very well.

KVS noted that if Calvin had lost and Albion did, too, then they would be tied for 4th, and would have had a play-in game.  They had thought about an appeal via the presidents, but did not think they could get them together in such short order.  Suffice it to say, the rest of the season for Calvin lies in the hands of Adrian College.  It comes down to not being in this situation by taking care of business in any number of games earlier in the season.

Nice win for the Knights today as the league's best big man was Kruis'n with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Rietema, DeBoer and Powell also with double figures.

It was nice that they won, but I would not classify it as a "nice win" as they let an inferior team hang around until the last minute.

See Knight, Old.

In their last four games Alma took them to OT, Hope beat them handily, they got blown out by Trine, and squeaked by Olivet. They're just not that good.

And the guy he was guarding (a freshman starting the 8th game of his career) had 16 points and 12 rebounds. I'd call that a draw.

As I sit here and work, I keep an eye on the Calvin/Olivet score, as I will the Adrian/Albion score later. I said it before: the new tournament format has made the final week of the regular season a lot more interesting than it would have been, and the tournament itself no less interesting. I am very happy with the change.

I on the other hand do not like the new tournament format, because there's no way you can't tell me my Scots finally might be able to make a little noise in the tourney, possibly stringing together a couple road wins as the #6?  I think even Kalamazoo could win on the road as the 7...I think an 8-team tourney this year would have been a ton of fun....

Halftime in Albion, and the Brits are down 5, but trailing 19-8 in the rebound department. Given they are also shooting a lower percentage and have taken less shots it's pretty amazing they're this close.

So, assuming an Adrian victory, which seems likely at this point, does anyone know what the seeding will be?

In his postgame, KVS said Calvin is either out, or they will play Wednesday at Hope. That leaves Trine and Adrian to play one another the same night. I think Adrian locks up the 2 seed with a win.

If both Adrian and Trine win tonight, I believe Trine would host because of their win over Hope.  The two schools split their games against each other and the next tiebreaker would be record vs Hope.

Thanks for having my back Scottiedawg...  Thanks for the pettiness Northb, my lowly public university degree did prepare me to identify the "ratio" similarities.  I'm fairly certain 13 of 17 (which is what it will be in a couple weeks) is NOT the same ratio.....book it

To lower myself, I do not forsee and another meeting this year in the MIAA tourney, so further ratio analysis will have to wait until next January

Consider yourself lowered.

Just looking at the pick 'em board, the assumption of a Trine win seems like quite a stretch...
