A quick look at Westminster's roster shows they are not going to match up well at all size wise.  Westminster only has 1 player 6'5" tall. This looks like a great game to start off a tournament run.

Starting with a SLIAC team is always good.  Long-time IWU coach Denny Bridges (in his memoir) rather impolitely, but accurately, referred to SLIAC tourney opponents as 'speed bumps'. :P

Guessing we will see you in Holland this weekend?

On the edge of the bubble? Everyone has a claim there.

I'm not a WPI fan but I'm upset. They have as legitimate of a gripe as I've seen.

Barring horrid weather or a family emergency, I'm planning on it (as is iwumichigander).

Your first game should be a whole lot easier than ours!  I HOPE we meet in the second game!

Here is what I am using

Possessions = 0.96 x (FGA - Off Reb + TO + (0.44 x FTA))

Divide pts by possessions x 100 = efficiency

Without looking up the exact number; the SLIAC entry has never won an NCAA post season tournament game.

Maybe Calvin could do Hope a favor and scrimmage Westminster this Wednesday, just to soften them up a little. :)

I think sac and I both use

Possessions = FGA - OReb + TO + (.475 x FTA)

As some of you regulars know, I was a hope fan in the 80's  (yes, Matt Neil was a favorite player of mine), and I got relocated to St Louis in 1987... (had to give up prime Hope season tickets).   Anyway, I'm now a huge supporter of SLIAC hoops - no particular team - and write quite a bit in the SLIAC room here on D3hoops.  I'll give you a complete writeup on the Westmin team in another day or two, but you may find interesting what I posted to the Westmin team and fans after learning about the first round matchup....

as always 'Go HOPE'   (just take it easy on my Westmin boys ;D)
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Yes this is what I use.    The .96 and .44 that FDF is using raises the efficiency number up a little bit.

Trying to find an MIAA team to put them on par with.  Offensively, a little better than Kalamazoo and Albion.  Defensively, maybe a Trine.

But Westminster has played a far weaker schedule than anyone in the MIAA.....by a lot.

That is correct... however let me give you one or two points about that..
Unfortunately, the SLIAC has ALMOST always been a bottom seed, faced with the challenge of playing a top seed on their home court....  tough to win wherever you get sent..(in recent years IWU, Wheaton, Mississippi College, Wash U a couple of times)
The ONE time the SLIAC earned a 3 seed, several years ago, making for a neutral court game, the SLIAC rep, Fontbonne, lost by only a couple to Mary Hardin Baylor at Milsaps.
Also.. the closest game on the 1 seed's court by a SLIAC team was just two years ago... when WESTMINSTER lost by only 7 to Wash U....
And so,  There's always HOPE!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I immediately thought of you when I saw the bracket.  Sorry you won't be able to make it.
