I am glad that you are willing to give him next year.  I would urge you to get behind him and the whole team and give them your full support for the entire year.

Thanks, but no thanks.  I have fallen for the ole' getting all the guys "into" the magical/super complicated KVS game plan in the past.  I don't need another helping of that crap.   :)  He (KVS) now has an experienced team which has had 1, 2, or 3 seasons to learn at the feet of the "grand master".  If they don't know, or haven't learned it yet shame on them, and shame on him.  It really is "put up or shut up time"!!!
I am not the math wiz that some posters may be, but I am smart enough to know that 5-5 or 5-6 pre-conference performances do not lead to either 20 win seasons or NCAA bids.
You can give him "the entire year", if you like, but I won't need that long to determine if KVS is everything is all his family members think he is.l

You bolded and emphasized the wrong part of almcguirejr's statement. No worries, I've fixed it for ya.

Has anybody seen my genever, it seems to be missing.  ???

Don't worry. I have it for "safe keeping."  It's in the freezer.   ;D

That's where I keep my bottle. But then, you already suspected that. It may or may not have been the variable you thought it was.

Are YOU heading East this weekend?

Of course!  I've entrusted FDF/CM with the task of getting me a ticket, and I know I am in capable hands.

And with an assist from gohope, I'm now set as far as tickets are concerned.

??

I'll be standing in line tomorrow.

UWSP has 2 guys on the WIAC All conf 1st team; the Tillema brothers - and one of them (Tyler the JR, and UWSP leading scorer) is out for the rest of the season.

Is this right?  All I find is stuff that calls Tyler Tillema "day-to-day" with a thumb injury.

Bob, this is what frodotwo said about Tyler Tillema over on the WIAC board ten days ago:

I, for one, will NEVER underestimate a Stevens Point team.

A lot of it may hinge on Tyler Tillema... he suited up but didn't play at all for Point.  That's 17 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, and better than a steal per game... in addition to his overall court leadership.

That's a huge contribution gone...

Yep.  I'm not sure at what point he got hurt against Stout but he played through it... may not have been 100% and he missed the FT that could have sealed it.

Depending what the injury was, that might not have been that surprising... radio guys said that it was his left hand that was heavily bandaged (and he's a lefty).

The injury occurred with about 5 minutes left in regulation vs Stout. He was mugged by two players  >:( and went down hard. He played thru it, but I hear he is likely done for the season with possible ligament damage.  :'( :'( :'(

I don't know how close to the Pointers program frodotwo is, but he's one of UWSP's more ardent fans and one of the most respected regulars in the WIAC room. I'd hesitate to call this a definitive prognosis on Tillema, but I think it carries some weight ... especially because Tillema's a guard (in other words, he's not going to pull a Jeff Kuehl ;)), and the damage was done to his shooting hand.

Sager (and others) have posted this same info. I've looked to find the original post I saw where someone asked about him and a UWSP poster (I think) confirmed it

Questions about consolation games:
1) Does the NCAA D3 men's and women's tournament still call for consolation games in Salem and Holland?
2) Are there consolation games along the way at the various hosting sites?
3) What is the rationale for consolation games at this level?  I always felt that was a tough game to have to play.

Non-FF consolation games died many years ago.  The women still play a national 3rd place game, the men cancelled it a few years ago.

The men's consolation game was replaced with an all-star game, correct?

The last D3 consolation game was 2009.  I guess that's a few. ???

... which raises an interesting question as to whether the UWSP basketball and/or training staffs are actually holding out hope for Tillema's return, or if they're merely in CYA mode.
