One can imagine that the Tillemas will feel right at home in West Michigan.  One of their high school compatriots from Randolph, WI, is T.J. Huizenga, a Calvin freshman who saw some modest varsity minutes this season.

I would think that all of the many Frisian-Americans in the crowd at DeVos would adopt UWSP as their team for Dan Tillema's sake ... unless they're old enough to be Jack Sikma fans. ;)

ok Greg, let me blow you away with a small bit of Trivia... there was a sikma that played at Hope...or should I say, was a part of the program at Hope... He and my son were a part of the class that were Freshmen, on the JV team the year Hope lost to Rowan in Salem... the Varsity remained deep, and unfortunately neither my son nor Sikma made the team as Sophomores... his Dad was Jack's brother.... they lived near Kankakee... and twice I only had to drive my son that far from St Louis, stopped at the Sikma's home, and they took my son on up with their son....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

It is an interesting but of trivia, hopefan, but not of the blow-me-away variety. A kid named Sikma ending up at Hope is about as unlikely as a kid named Gustafson going to NPU, or a kid named O'Rourke going to Notre Dame.

This Frisian will be wearing blue and orange. Given the ascendancy of Frisians to the highest levels (Obama!) we will on occasion have conflicts but will stick with what matters most.

I'm thinking that I will be sitting at the Brewery by 3:30 tomorrow. All fellow posters who would like to gather for a celebratory bump (Chuck?) should feel free to meet me there. I'll be wearing a Hope hoodie and reading Wendell Berry. The brewery is two blocks west of the field house on the corner of 8th and College.

hopetix posted on the WIAC board in response to grumbling that UWSP had only received 200 tickets (when the NCAA would mandate 500).  She informed them the UWSP only requested 200, has sold only 50, and has already returned 100.  Not remembering that I was still on the WIAC board, I asked how many Westminster and IWU have sold.

I might have better luck if I repeat the question here!  How many Westminster and IWU fans are currently anticipated?

109 sold was the "official" tally by UWSP ticket office. We'll have a hard time drowning out the 3200+ Hope fans on Saturday  ::)   ;)

Well, that could lead to an interesting conversation about how "loud" or how "electric" the typical 3200+ Hope fan crowd typically is, particularly in a fairly cavernous arena.

That really makes me want to skip work tomorrow. Having a job stinks!

Not sure about before (but not ruling it out), but I definitely plan to head there after the second game to celebrate (or drown my sorrows, heaven forfend!).

Assuming that Ty Tillema either cannot play or will be less than 100%, I put IWU's odds for Friday at 60+% (probably only 45-50% if he is full strength).  I put Hope's odds on Friday as 99.999%.  So there should be a very good chance that those at NHBC can both celebrate AND practice 'trash talk' for Saturday! ;D

Saw CHN's post just before hitting 'post'.  Hey, if you were a 'true' Nut, you'd risk your job for a tourney game!  (On the other hand, for you guys Friday is no mystery; you coming Saturday?)

Not sure of my pre-game plans, but I'll keep this in mind.

NHBC is only two blocks west if you've been imbibing for at least two hours.  Otherwise, it's more like six blocks.

I'm so thrilled you put odds on this was starting to worry you'd slipped.
