There was an article in the local paper about the Hope players celebrating too early after Colton Overway's dunk, on the Krombeen behind the back pass, gave Hope a 3-point lead near the end of the Adrian game (to which Adrian promptly responded with a 3-point play).  Someone pass along to me another example of a premature basketball celebration:

There may have been an article written about this finish but I wouldn't say that Hope players celebrated to early... Overway's dunk was electric and The Devos was rocking but I thought the 5 Hope players on the floor transitioned into defense pretty quickly. Adrian proceeded to find an open guard who had only scored 2 points prior to the biggest shot of his life! Right in front of me...

Pointlem, that is a classic video you posted! It is a great reminder to play to the final buzzer! Especially this time of year! Win or go home...

Speaking of home.... Hopester, it sure is nice to not be traveling this weekend! We have had some great times on the road together! In NCAA tourny play alone we have gone over 3,000 miles together! See you tonight!

I don't remember all of the details, but in 2005 John Carroll hit a late shot to take the lead over Albion in the sectional round at Kresge. I heard via TR on the radio this morning that Hope could reach a milestone tonight.  In its history,  Hope Men's Basketball currently has 1499 wins.  Tonight could be 1500!!!

Yep, that stat along with a lot of other information can be found at this link about he four teams in he pod. I found it interesting that there have been four combined games played amongst these teams. All involving IWU and none involving Hope.

I still think the most memorable of those miles might have been (approximately) the tenth mile on the way to Salem. An interesting start to that journey!

When was Michael Hankinson added to the varsity team?   What kind of season did he have with the JVs?

Michael started the season doing duel duty w/ both the varsity and jv, then ended the season focusing on the jv for more pt and experience.  He's got potential.  Did you see a roster change somewhere?

Guessing that since he had some early season (pre-conference) experience with the varsity, he is "back-up" on varsity now to fill Chris Ray's roster spot

Any word on NVA and his sickness from last week?

Sentinel article today said he has been practicing all week and will be playing tonight

I don't remember all of the details, but in 2005 John Carroll hit a late shot to take the lead over Albion in the sectional round at Kresge. The Britons only had enough time for a Mike Thomas half court heave. The story goes that the John Carroll students began to run onto the floor at the buzzer, but had to halt a few steps in as Thomas' shot went in the hoop and the Albion students were storming from the opposite end of the floor.

JCU missed two free throws with about 3 seconds left. Loudest I've ever heard Kresge.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I didn't actually see it go in but what happened was the ball hit the rim and bounced high in the air.  I imagine the JCU students rushed the court feeling they had won........only to see the ball come down and fall through the hoop.

My face went in my hands as soon as the ball hit the rim........everything after that is second hand knowledge.  All I remember is looking up and seeing Albion fans celebrating and my brain telling me this ain't right.

Great memory though.

You missed a heck of a moment, but it wouldn't be quite as infamous a moment if you had actually seen it with your own eyes, haha!
