So, now that the MIAA teams are all wrapped up....what's the word on recruiting? I haven't much around Calvin but I'd be interested to know if anyone has had their ear to the ground with other MIAA schools

Here's the recruiting info that has been reported on this board so far:

Alma
Brandon Trefil -- Fulton-Middleton

Calvin
Jon Maas -- Holland Christian
Nathan Landsgaard -- Goodrich

Steve Bell also hinted that Calvin might be "in on" Austin Parks of Niles, but I'm not sure how serious anything is on that front.

Don't know about Parks.  I'm told that Calvin has another one or two commits right now, but I don't have all the details.

It's still pretty early in the recruiting season and families have a lot to consider with financial aid packages, possible academic scholarship awards, leadership grants, campus jobs, etc.

HopeConvert

It seems that Calvin is out for Drake Harris. He wants to be a two-sport student athlete so the lack of a football team clearly hurts their chances.

Personally, I would be astounded if Calvin had any legitimate chance at landing Harris... Aren't Michigan and Michigan State recruiting him?

I think Ziggy was just making a joke.  At least I hope so.  :)

I would hope so! However, with how good the Kool-aid tastes to some, I'd be less than surprised to find a few who think there is validity to this.

Grey Street:

You are probably right.  However, while less likely, it is not impossible.  People said that many years ago about Calvin's great Mark Veenstra (currently team orthopedic consultant for Kalamazoo College), who had offers to Michigan, Houston, and UCLA before turning those down to go to hometown Calvin.  We all know "the rest of the story" as he is one of the all time MIAA greats, if not the greatest.  Of course, only basketball was in the picture for Veenstra, while Harris you mention as football.  Yet, I would doubt that if Harris goes DI that they will allow him to play two sports - that is extremely rare today and, frankly, not really welcomed by most DI coaches (of course, Izzo at Michigan State has allowed that, yet, it doesn't really work that well).  Anyway, we'll see what transpires eventually here.

Too much thought has already gone into this so I'll put an end to it now. It was a joke.

From what I understand through Ann Arbor radio, Harris will likely have his pick between MSU and UofM as two-sport destinations (MSU may have already offered this verbally), plus whatever other schools get seriously involved. John Beilein does not offer sophomores so his UofM basketball offer will come this summer.

You obviously left out the "historic" aspect in crunching the numbers for Albion's performance at Kresge Gymnasium.
