Austin Parks (Niles) has been mentioned as a possible Calvin recruit. Earlier this week he helped lead his team to victory over K-Central, the two-time defending Class A champs. Tonight he scored 25 in his team's win over Loy Norrix to win the district championship.

He plays football too.

I might recommend watching Niles in their Regional game on Monday at Portage Northern.  Unfortunately due to an upset over here in Lansing, it will be Okemos and not Lansing Eastern making that trip to square off against Niles.  Eastern was loaded with talented kids, including one or two who would have no doubt directly lined against Mr. Parks.   Okemos has Butler University bound guard Chris Harrison-Docks(seven 3's tonight), he's worth the watch and they're always a well coached team.

The other game is Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills vs Jackson.

Parks would've lit up Cha Cha Tucker had Eastern won. Harrison-Docks is considered one of the best defensive guards in the Midwest, tougher matchup for Parks by two-fold. Niles is a more balanced team than Okemos though.

Word on the street, Jon Maas isn't a done deal for Calvin.

Lucas Marble, a 6-3 forward from Sparta, headed to Albion.

I know nothing of Parks and have mixed up his size with someone else, didn't realize he was a G.  Was thinking Eastern's F's would be a much tougher matchup than Okemos' but yeah Harrison-Docks will be a good challenge for Parks.

Yes, I know newcard, my friend!  Many have said that about me in the past and even my wife has chastized me for "not getting to the point" at times for "whatever".  Nonetheless, I guess I've always been one that thought it is important to "get all the details in".  That way, no one can say that all contingencies and options were not looked at! Besides, IMO, it always makes it more interesting (although that is not to overlook the fact that a short to-the-point response is sometimes the most effective.) ::) ;)

You know I'm a little envious of the way you can post at length and not find yourself going off on a tangent (or 2 or 3), like I would. But, keep 'em coming. They are informative and you don't end up saying something you'll regret later (at least not anything I've read) as some of us have:):):)

There are 41 schools in Grace College's division.  Grace College has a nice program.  They have done well.  If they want to refer to those as "national championships" that is their prerogative.

To some future employers outside of Michigan, West Michigan for that matter, looking at a resume and seeing "Four Time National Champion" as opposed to "Four Time MIAA Conference Champion"  might be more appealing- especially if you were a Captain.

I completely understand what you're saying but not many people, regardless of level or gender, can say they are 4 time national champions.  Guessing their are a whole bunch of hoopsters wearing, orange, blue, marroon and gold who wish they could state the same-even one time.

Wonder if they cut down the nets?

Golf anyone????

This is the banner presented at the end of the Championship game.  Grace Bible nor I have a choice in calling it a National Championship.

Congrats to those 4 individuals.  I am sure each of them would give up any personal award to still be playing this weekend.  I expect to see DK,and CV on the final teams when they are announced.
