Good one! +k :)

Greg and Chuck:

I, will at the risk of beratement :o ::) :D, jump in here. ;D ;) :)  Greg, I have to agree with Mr. Ypsi on this one.  Using your logic, it, then, is no different that last night's Div. I games.  Do you really think that Duke or Missouri wouldn't win 9 out of 10 times against Lehigh and Norfolk State respectively? But...alas, I suppose we could say that comparing Div. III is not like Div. I, although I tend to think it is when it comes to the national championship tourney. :)

Sorry, fd3db, but I tune right out when someone makes a D1 comparison to D3 games.

That's okay Gregory, no problem.  I have great respect for your knowledge and expertise in the college basketball realm.  At the same, time, we can agree to disagree on this one. :D :)  IMO, in general, they are the same when it comes to the possibilities as to what may or may not happen in any given game and, again, especially the tournaments.  I've seen it happen too many times.

Any more insight into the Calvin JV firing scandal? I'm still waiting for confirmation as to why he was let go by everyone who seems to know all but actually knows little.  With all the bashing of my post regarding what "could" have happened, little info has been given to dispute my thoughts on the matter.

What I can say with certainty, is that he wasn't relieved of his duties due to "outstanding" performance and contributions to the program, or for being a really nice guy.

FWIW-  Calvin hoops will accomplish nothing until #30 and #20 are gone.  Their horrible leadership skills on the floor are what's holding this team back

I don't think anyone is holding their breath waiting for an official statement re: Ricky being let go, and if there was such an announcement, it would certainly contain the usual jargon for such things:  "we're moving in a different direction", etc. etc.  I doubt that we'll ever know the real reason(s).....

My interpretation of the reaction of Calvin folks on this board is that we all saw Ricky as bringing something to the program that no one else on the staff seems to possess:  former Calvin player (and a very good one at that), a positive/outgoing/dynamic personality, and from talking to those who have much greater knowledge of his work as JV head coach, someone who connected well with players, made them better, and was the kind of coach they wanted to do well for.  In the face of increasing criticism of KVS, Ricky was highly regarded for both his loyalty to his former coach and for remaining positive and energetic about his work.

I've heard nothing about a possible replacement, but I for one sure hope it's someone who owns a good chunk of all the positive things Ricky seemed to bring....

When in doubt, make something up.

I'd tend to agree with you KV....from my experiences with the program and with Ricky as a person he seemed to bring a lot of good qualities to the table. The only valid reasons I could see for firing him especially after having 2 successful years at the JV level would be some unknown scandal

In 24 minutes of play in yesterday's all-star game, David Krombeen had 10 points on 5 of 9 shooting, 5 rebounds, 4 assists (as many as anyone), 1 turnover, and 4 steals (more than anyone else).  Very nice last game for David.  How we Hope fans have enjoyed, and will miss, watching his artistry, which at times would marry ballet with athleticism.

Prepolec tried that look earlier this year.

I caught just the last 10 minute of the game which also just happened to catch David's interview.  Among the remarks I can remember......just being appreciative of being able to play with his teamates at Hope and work with great coaches........ having a good time playing with such great players from around the country........the IWU game was the best game he's ever played in and the atmosphere was probably better than any Hope/Calvin game he participated in (I sort of concur, but you'd have to go way back).

I hadn't realized until last night that Hope's last 3 losses to D3 schools have been this...

Albion 76-78 OT
Augustana  80-88 OT
Illinois Wesleyan 101-108  2OT

36-3 vs D3 since the MIAA opening loss to Calvin last season.  Hope's had one double-digit loss to a D3 school since the Platteville game of 2009.

That is funny-I might have to post this in my classroom and see if anyone notices.

Peyton Manning to the Broncos. I'm surprised, I thought he was transferring to Hope.

He really wanted to be a Dutchmen, but... he used up all of his eligibility when playing for Univ. of Tennessee.   ;)  Looks like he's going to wear the correct colors though!!  :)

I thought it was because he was only one person.
