Eric Jipping, a 6-5 F/C from Plymouth Christian, will attend Calvin. A knee injury cut his senior season short but he finished his high school career as a 1,000 point scorer.

Edit: forgot to mention that the decision came down to Calvin and Hope.

Probably 230, an old school post.

SBell had him on one of his Class D All-State lists.

And in other breaking news, it seems the prediction about Jon Maas going to Calvin was a bit premature:

Wow, have to say I'm pretty shocked about that one. Especially considering his girlfriend goes to Calvin and he is best friends with Ty Dykstra...guess he doesn't want to play for the greatest coach in history

"Maas also considered Calvin College, for a microsecond, Koeman said."

By my count, 4 players from the first 4 teams of S. Bell's All-State Class B team are heading to MIAA schools.

Five if you count Drake Harris to Calvin.

I know Holland Christian has had some down years lately, but I'm having trouble even remembering the last HCHS player to play for Hope.  Peter Overbeek in 04-05 probably.

Anybody?

Two things, in my opinion, jump out to me from that list.

1) Lance Monroe deserves to be higher than 6th team. That is a bigtime ball player they have over there at Bridgeport.

2) marcus sura does not belong anywhere near that list. So far in fact, I don't believe he should be allowed to look at it. (mighta exaggerated a little bit there, he is after all a blue jay, but sura was not even the best player on that team, let alone best player in tri valley central as that would say, and he's not deserving of being on that list)

Austin Parks (Niles) has been mentioned as a possible Calvin recruit. Earlier this week he helped lead his team to victory over K-Central, the two-time defending Class A champs. Tonight he scored 25 in his team's win over Loy Norrix to win the district championship.

He plays football too.

I might recommend watching Niles in their Regional game on Monday at Portage Northern.  Unfortunately due to an upset over here in Lansing, it will be Okemos and not Lansing Eastern making that trip to square off against Niles.  Eastern was loaded with talented kids, including one or two who would have no doubt directly lined against Mr. Parks.   Okemos has Butler University bound guard Chris Harrison-Docks(seven 3's tonight), he's worth the watch and they're always a well coached team.

The other game is Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills vs Jackson.

Parks would've lit up Cha Cha Tucker had Eastern won. Harrison-Docks is considered one of the best defensive guards in the Midwest, tougher matchup for Parks by two-fold. Niles is a more balanced team than Okemos though.

Word on the street, Jon Maas isn't a done deal for Calvin.

Lucas Marble, a 6-3 forward from Sparta, headed to Albion.

If either Hope or Calvin can get HC's Kyle Steigenga to stick around in a couple years, that will be a real coup. Super talented, offensively at least.

I heard he is thinking bigger than that.
