Any early predictions for how the conference will stack up in 2013?

We'll have to wait for some more definitive word on the list of players transferring from high school to MIAA programs.

http://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2012/05/dutcher-interview-2013-title-game

Hoopsville did an interview with D3 VP Dan Dutcher about the Alanta(sic) thing.  Didn't really confirm much of anything except that I have a greater disdain for "executive speak".

Sounds like a "here's what we're going to do, so hey D3 tournament committee get it done" kind of deal.  Actual details still to be worked out.
sac - I disagree. From my conversations both in the podcast and off-the-air with Dan Dutcher plus chats with coaches and committee members, it isn't a situation were the NCAA says this is the plan... "get it done."

Everyone has indicated this is more like the NCAA, especially the basketball world, wanted to have this happen in 2013 and it worked its way through the system - the announcement coming more than a month after the original plan - so that everyone was on board and some of the major details of hosting all three divisions were worked out. But then instead of telling the Division III (and thus Division II) committee and thus all of D3 basketball that this is what is happening... here is how we have decided it will work... deal with THAT... they have decided to let the committee and thus D3 decide how they want to adapt things to make it work for themselves. They are actually allowing Division III decide what is best for themselves (after they already agreed playing the game in Atlanta was something they wanted to do).

This isn't a "this is what we are doing, deal with it" plan... this is a "we all have decided we want to do this, let us know what works best for you on your level." Remember, Dan Dutcher is the Vice President for Division III and attended the Salem Championship Weekend this year (not his first visit). From the conversations I have had with him in the last six-plus months, he makes sure Division III has a say in how they want to do things.

Serious question Dave.

How many D3 representatives were on the committee that decided the Championship would be in Atlanta?  Because there seems to be a difference in what you(or Mr. Dutcher) are saying about D3 having a choice in this matter, and what other people out in the D3 world are saying.

I've been told there were 2 D3 reps. at the vote, Mr. Dutcher seems to be implying it was all D3 reps.

Speaking of facts.  Regarding Calvin football:
There was no vote.
The concensus of attendees was that football deserves consideration, but it will need to fight for scarce $$ just like any other idea or proposal.
Football will have to compete with several other major projects (like renovation/modernization of the commons bldng) that have been in the que for sometime now.
Reading between the lines one would/could conclude football is far from dead at Calvin, but it is going to take a major $$ infusion to avoid becoming stillborn.
A periodic reworking of the "beloved" master plan is scheduled for next year, and if sufficient support for football appears it has a fighting chance.  Time line is 5-10 years unless a deep pocket picks up the tab.

Leave it to a Calvin fan to put the Knights in a tier above the teams that they went 2-4 against and in the same tier as a team they went 0-3 against.
