And KS, lay off the KVS kool-aid and you'll pick up on sarcasm. Maybe you should have him come read you bedtime stories about the glory days of the Calvin program under Douma.

KnightSlappy, unless you are a proctologist, you shouldn't have to deal with this.

"This"... The board's new four letter word.  ;)
"We are told that Christ was killed for us, that His death has washed out our sins, and that by dying He disabled death itself. ... That is Christianity. That is what has to be believed."

Douma wasn't "nice" enough for Calvin.

It would be more accurate to say that he wasn't nice enough for "some" people at Calvin.  Unfortunately for Eddie, two of them happened to be the men's AD and the newly installed President.

I'd rather have a coach with a bit of an edge who makes good on promises to win natty's and make final 4's after inheriting a program that was close to bottom of the MIAA rather than one who thrives on mediocrity while continually having good recruits deciding to come to the school

It's ok.  I'd rather point to a 12 year old banner AND a 20 year old banner than point to an 'Attendance leader banner' or an 'All MIAA sports award banner'    ;)
BTW, what is the "statute of limitations" on banner pointing??  5 years? 10 years? There is none? I don't know, but I'm sick of Calvin fans doing it?   ;D

According to the Official Book, the statute of limitations expires when your rivals just laugh when you point at those dusty, moth-eaten things.  In other words, about 2 years ago.   ;D

Purdue fans must really laugh at Indiana fans then.

Nice story from Albion College about 3 of their players.

Unfortunately most of our MIAA schools are located in media markets that are just a little too small to be noticed.  I'm confident these kinds of things happen frequently, we just don't get to read about them as often as we should.

I too am sick and tired of all those D3 student-athletes in New York, Boston, and LA hogging the media coverage of their community volunteering efforts.

I really don't know why you felt this post needed this kind of response.  Outside of Hope and Calvin coverage in the Grand Rapids Press and the occasional Kzoo coverage in the Kalamazoo Gazette the rest of the MIAA really doesn't benefit from even medium sized markets.   Adrian, Albion, Alma, Olivet and Trine receive almost no coverage outside of their immediate hometown coverage if that even exists.  So when those special interest type stories do arise they frequently never make it beyond the pages of their local paper or in the case of the article I linked, beyond even their own web page.

speaking of things near Albion....

http://www.mlive.com/news/jackson/index.ssf/2012/05/dick_vitale_is_coming_to_the_a.html

Dick Vitale will be speaking at the Starr Commonwealth Founders Day on October 7th.  Starr Commonwealth does some good work with troubled kids.

If you've ever made the drive to Albion from the West on I-94 you've passed under Starr Commonwealth Hwy near its facilities.
