The MIAA website is now hosted by Presto Sports.  I suppose this means more magic tricks.

No doubt about it. I've got to get another hat.

Cartoon references should always get +k

You mean the 2002-era page layout and design that they went to in about 2008?

I was thinking it was even sooner than 2008.  2010 maybe, I'm sure OCSID would know since he's in the middle of that stuff.

I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. It definitely wasn't before 2008; might have been 2009.

One cool thing on the internet is that the website for the movie Space Jam remains as it was in 1996.

One thing will change as the seasons change and that's the stats pages which will use Presto's format.  I've always found Presto's stats presentation clunky.  If I had one wishful hope its that the SID's provide an html or the statcrew option like other conferences offer.

Like the Heartland Conference.

html stats  http://www.heartlandconf.org/sports/mbkb/2011-12/files/confstat.htm

So far it looks like football might have that since there are links to both the old statistics page and also a new  "enhanced statistics", which is the Presto stat format.

One nice upgrade will be a team schedule page right on the MIAA site, previously the miaa site linked you back to the schools individual team schedule page on their sites.  It would be nice to have a similar link right off the standings page.

Yeah -- not sure how much magic there can be considering the conference apparently demanded it keep its 2002-era page layout and design. It looks so out of step with the rest of Division III conferences, frankly.

Contrary to popular belief in Washington, money doesn't grow on trees.  Sometimes leaders have budgets and stuff.

Interesting attempt at spin but the Presto base package comes with a design. I've been in on those, remember.

My point about the design was not the date in which it was implemented, but the date it represents the style of. I know -- I had a old design on D3hoops for far too long.  :-\

The other thing that is ridiculous about it is the integration the Presto offers would have made it so easy for the SID's of Adrian, Albion, Alma, Kalamazoo, and Olivet who will all feature Presto sites, but I'm not sure if that normal integration will be put completely to use with the MIAA's new site.

Either way, not doing a redesign seems like a waste of money to me

I'm not familiar with Presto's timeline, but could this be a case of moving the hosting right away while a new design is created? Or are the designs so standard that they could more or less be implemented right away?

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

Presto has a lot of website forms you can jump pretty quickly into... it isn't like they are starting from scratch every time they create a new website (unless a school, organization wants a completely different look than Presto has - and that has happened). I also doubt that the turnaround time was so short that the only option was to implement the old look... just to get the site up and running. Groups know when their contracts are up or when they might start with a new group well in advance of needing a new launch.

In all honesty, keeping the old design was surely more work and time for Presto than it would be to use something standard. Just from looking at the MIAA site, I am sure they had to reverse engineer an old-style site to work on their platform.

I asked, and they responded. From @miaastats on Twitter:

Presto took over the site 8/1. With a few differences, we asked them to maintain the same basic design of the previous site.

Goshen College website shows that they will be playing at Hope tournament on Dec 7 & 8.

http://www.goleafs.net/schedule/10/1.php

It's also interesting to note that the NAIA Mid-Central College Conference that Goshen belongs to has changed their name to the Crossroads League.

Goshen is not participating in Hope's tournament, this is an error on their schedule.

Covenant College from Lookout Mountain, GA is participating in Hope's tournament.   Covenant would be in-region for Hope.

Because regional emphasis.

300 mile rule? Adjacent state rule? Not to be considered. We need more MI-GA matchups!

As fans of the great game of basketball, I'm hoping some of you will be interested in helping this cause reach its goal by Tuesday.  They are just about $600 away from reaching their goal of $10,000, but if the goal isn't met by Tuesday, they lose all pledged funds.

The story is very close to home for me, as a proud graduate of RVHS during the era of Jerry Schaffer, and is part of the reason I'm so passionate about basketball to this day.  Here's the info -- if you're moved to help, even in a small way, please accept my heartfelt thank you:
