Give up KVS for Hargraves? Come on now. KVS is a great, successful and proven coach. And anyone who thinks otherwise probably does not know much about it. (Just my neutral opinion)

And looks like Olivet went the JUCO route. The same route that has been failing them for years.

I've actually been hearing this one for a while...and wouldn't be surprised if it came true in 3-5 yrs. Mark my prediction 8/1/12 (when i first heard of it).

Wow.  Cannot believe Olivet snagged TJ Vondette.  Not really sure what position he can and will play.  But an athlete like that is very dangerous.  Much speculation that he would go d-2 or walk on d-1

The school that you Calvin folks have NPU playing on opening night has changed its name. Philadelphia Biblical University is now Cairn University. The school's nickname has also been changed; they're now the Highlanders. That's a shame, as I was looking forward to following the MIAA room's Grace Bible precedent by referring to PBU as the Biblical Eagles. ;)

I'd disagree with you and I would be about 100% positive I know more about it than you do. And there's probably a few other posters who would agree with me that know more than you about not only Calvin and it's team, but also about the game, some of which played at a very high level.

I note this hasn't been posted on the Calvin website.
I thought I had seen this line up before, and it was on KS's blog back on 3-3-12

" 1         2         3
G Brink Rietema Nadeau
G DeBoer Powell Huizenga
F Snikkers Mast

F DeVries Vallie

C Kruis Dykstra Stout".

Only one missing is the fr., but KS allowed for this possibly happening.

Good call KS :)

kinda feeling frisky today so....this is directed towards K2D... If you are who I think you are (based on your pic of throwing an elbow because you couldn't jump.... or shoot, handle the ball, defend outside the block, etc...), you were what i thought you were! (gosh I love that quote, its become mainstream).   If you know/knew so much about basketball, and Calvin basketball and KVS, then you shouldn't have played there!!!

Feel free to debate someone's post, like this for example.  But don't feel compelled to bully everyone that supports the current staff Mr. Smartypants, even though I do not.  But I also have thought that Powell sucked since he was a soph is HS and Snikkers is so incredibly limited basketball wise and a poor "leader of men" but a heck of an athlete.

If you are not the person in your pic....so irrelevant I don't recall the players name, I kinda apologize but that player was horrible too.

Yea, I agree with hoopdreams. Knight2Day, you are an idiot. You constantly complain about KVS and Calvin's record. I haven't posted in a couple years but I am so sick of hearing you cry. Are you even a Calvin fan? Or are you still butt-hurt about not playing enough when you were "at a high level"? You do not know more than you think. You think that Calvin, and the rest of the MIAA, is a D1 program that should treat their programs and athletes like a D1 program. If you KNOW so much, then you would know that Calvin, Hope, Albion and other programs in DIII are responsible for developing strong CHRISTIAN men first, education second, and maybe athletics third. Your ideas of what Calvin should be doing is so far off from what this school stands for it is stupid. If you want to cry about a programs winning percentages and its coaching stuff, without looking at the big picture of developing these men into leaders for Jesus, then you need to find a new team, school, and division. I am not sure of KVS statistics, but I would agree that he has underachieved in some years. Yes, he has NOT pulled the same talent as Hope. Deal with it. BUT, also deal with his 8 or 9 conference titles, and a national championship that no one else in the MIAA has...KVS IS a well respected coach, and any DIII program would be lucky to have him, his ideals, and his Christian viewpoints on educating students. Again, stop you incessant moaning about Calvin, you sound like you are on a death bed...

I do not believe K2D is a former Calvin varsity player.

The million dollar question already is this.....will the numerous "fairly talented or "lots of potential" athletes on the JV roster even have a chance to play varsity ball at Hope?  Or will they be passed over by another top crop of Frosh next year?  Well aware of the tough transition from hs to college, even D3, there are a few kids on that roster who can play fairly well.

HOPE ROSTER UP....................WOW

WOW indeed. By my count there are seven players who have never played one varsity minute, plus three others who averaged less than 7 minutes per game of varsity action last year. Hope has a talented and experienced front line of players but what happens in the backcourt is what will make or break the season for the Dutch whose guards last year were about as good as it gets in the MIAA. Between Krombeen, Bunn and Logan Neil they ate up 80 of the 200 available minutes each game and that's a ton of experience to replace. It's a cliche'--but nontheless true--to say you can't make a senior out of a freshmen.
