33 schools have added football since 2008.... the worst economic downturn in 70 years.  17 more will add football over the next 3 years.

Calvin Christian High School, Grand Rapids Christian High School, Unity Christian High School, Grand Rapids South Christian High School, Holland Christian High School  all play football.

You cannot have a hockey program and claim concussions is a worry, this is invalid as an argument.

There is just no excuse anymore.

I believe it's been shown that Women's soccer has the highest concussion rate (on a per player basis) of any NCAA sport.

Women's soccer is Top 3 or Top 2... with I think football and Ice Hockey being in the Top 5 as well... scary stuff to say the least.

And I bet a school looking at having football and deciding against because of head injuries is legit. You already have the other sports, there isn't anything you can do now... but to ADD another sport with a legitimate risk of head injuries may not be in the interest of the school. I think that is a valid argument even if you have sports that have a high risk already; why add even more risk or more students to deal with those injuries...

Albion's roster is posted

http://www.albion.edu/sports/mens-sports/basketball/roster

Chris Hutton returns from injury along with Mike Smith who disappeared midway through last season.  I'm not immediately familiar with any of the Fr.

I don't see Kolin Kazen, that would be a major loss. ??

I believe Hutton will not play immediately due to an injury.

Did I miss it here that Hope is playing a "throwback" game at the Holland Civic Center on 11/16/2013 or has that not come up? Sounds like a men's/women's doubleheader.

With Tiger Stadium still standing long after Comerica Park's opening, I thought it would be fun if they could have played one series a year at the old place. Of course, that would have required a little up-keep.

It was chatted about as a possibility for this year, though to be honest I can't recall if it ever really did reach this board.  So maybe?

The NCAA volleyball tournament will be at DeVos that weekend again next year.

If Kazen had a falling out with his coaches, his little brother probably wouldn't be there now.  If it was a "minor" injury setback, he'd still be listed, so......grades or serious injury?  Anyone, anyone....

Wondering if that's a simple mistake on the web posting.

I doubt they'd make it twice since he is not on the new site either: http://gobrits.com/sports/mbkb/2012-13/roster

Albion is very good at keeping things secret (ex. nobody in the Albion Athletic department knows anything about Orr's suspension or Krause's injury during this year's football season) so somebody is going to have to do A LOT of digging to find out what happened to Kazen.

Sorry, my mistake.  I completely missed that you were talking about 2013, not 2012....

One of best seniors in West Mich, 6-7 Ryan Wassink from Unity Christian, has committed to Bethel, over a number of GLIAC offers. His dad played for Calvin.

An extremely good catch for Bethel. The kid can really play and I'm looking forward to watching Ryan compete his final high school season. Wassink has few peers among West Michigan prepsters, can play inside and out with equal effectiveness, and is a very high quality kid from a high quality family. Would have loved to see him in maroon and gold.  :'( :'( :'(

Which Bethel? Indiana?

On the bright side, at least he's not going to Hope.
