Congrats to oldknight and family!!  Enjoy the grandson. So if you were oldknight before you were a grandparent, does that now make you ancientknight?

That's one possibility. In view of the weekend's events I am considering a board name change and will entertain suggestions. ;)

TroglodyteKnight could catch on.

(Although, I can hear you warning me now: "Go gently into that, goodknight!")

On the other hand, not every suggestion will be given serious consideration.

Trilobiteknight?

Not a chance. I am definately post-diluvian.

How about if we focus on the newborn instead of your advancing age, and go with Knighty Knight?  Gotta start practicing your baby talk anyway, right? :D

Given the time of this post, that's easily the best suggestion yet made. And given my profession, I've long been known as a babbler so baby talk comes naturally to me.

Hope at 19, Adrian 20, Calvin ORV in the latest poll.

Good job, good effort pollsters.

Looks like that College of Faith victory really gave Hope a boost.  I've become a mighty believer in their scheduling strategy.

To be fair, the only part that Hope actually scheduled was travelling to North Central's tournament/classic/showcase. I do not believe there is any way that Hope would have scheduled College of Faith on their own and I can't imagine Coach Neil found it to be a productive game for his team, even as a season opener.

I wonder how many votes Hope would have received if their record was reported as 1-2 instead of 2-2. Probably makes a difference in perception.

I can tell you are going to beat this horse for a while but I am sure the voters looked at the score (which was also provided, for both CoF games) and didn't give the opponent much credence.

The only difference, my friend sac, is that Calvin didn't lose to any of them, even on their home court.

Someone close to North Central told me that when Hope agreed to participate in North Central's tournament, UW-Whitewater (defending national champion) was supposed to be Hope's 1st round opponent.  UWW bailed, then another solid D3 committed and then bailed in the summer, leaving NCC literally looking for any team that would come.

I'm not trying to beat a horse -- nor disparage the information you provide to voters (you have to report 2-2 so long as Hope reports it as 2-2) -- but there is at least one Hope poster on here as well that likes to think of Hope's record as 1-2 as well. I know it's easy for one to say they dismiss the game after seeing the 98 point victory, but 2-2 or 1-2 would probably create a different perception among voters. Without saying it's right or wrong, how many voters could bring themselves to vote for a sub-.500 team in the Top 25?

I simply find it to be an interesting thought experiment.

I do understand, though, that for "D3" voters, the only game they have a good handle on is Hope's loss to Top-10 North Central. Should that loss really ding them? Probably not. And for Calvin, the only D3 wins are versus Anderson and North Park (at home) should that really boost them? Probably not.

It has happened before, at least. I didn't go back much further but with only a few games, it can happen.

Hope did drop more votes than any team in the top 25, lets not forget that, imo they were appropriately punished for their 2 losses.
