Wheaton 5 of 6 on 3's.  Do you really want to watch that?

It's early.  Calvin not playing well and only down 6.

Very poor ball movement for Calvin.  There is too much individual play.  Calvin being out rebounded 18-12.

Nearly 7 minutes into the second half, Calvin has TWO points!  Fortunately for them, Wheaton only has four. :P  36-22 w/ 13:24 to go.

A record number of illegal screens called tonight.

Starting to look 'hope'less (sorry 'bout that 8-)) for the Knights - with 8+ to go, Wheaton has opened up a 46-24 lead.  (Yes, the Knights have FOUR points in almost 12 minutes this half. :P)

Calvin shoots .294/.333/.375 for the game. That won't usually get it done. This will be my last post of the night as my computer will be momentarily smashed against the wall.

Bright side: the defense was actually still good, holding Wheaton to an 88.5 efficiency rating. I won't calculate Calvin's.

Or, when is the last time they held a team to 56 and not pick up a win?

Sat behind the bench and heard KVS during more than a few timeouts tell the team they can't have 4 guys standing around watching 1 guy play.  Excoriated them for not playing like a team, as they had done so well all year.  Tough to watch, but Wheaton's defense had a lot to do with it.  They didn't lose because of the 3's.  Some of the low scoring for both teams was due to the officiating and their weird calls on both teams.  Would have been a good night to be a flopper as the Zebras couldn't resist calling the charge.

Wheaton student body got into DeVries's head really well and rendered him useless.

The swim meet there was probably more interesting than this game.

What year was the shot clock instituted?

According to mlive:
"Calvin's 37-point total was its lowest since a 45-36 loss to Olivet in 1982."

Pat Coleman

I believe, though I'm not positive, that 1981-82 was the first season with a shot clock.
