Anyone know the last time Calvin scored so few points?

What year was the shot clock instituted?
According to mlive:
"Calvin's 37-point total was its lowest since a 45-36 loss to Olivet in 1982."

If not for a too-little, too-late rally, they could have blown that Olivet loss right out of the water - they had 24 points with 8 minutes to go.

I believe, though I'm not positive, that 1981-82 was the first season with a shot clock.

1986--45 second shot clock introduced
1994--shot clock reduced to 35 seconds

I hadn't realized (or remembered) that these had been introduced and changed so recently(relatively).  On the other hand its time for my geritol.

Alright. I've always dated that because in January 1981, Catholic beat Colgate 38-37 in triple overtime. After that season there weren't any slowdown games on the Catholic sked as I was doing my research.

A fine meal at Portillo's (nice pic by almcguirejr) nearly got expectorated on the floor of King Arena following Calvin's loss to Wheaton last night. I can't believe Calvin gave up only 54 points and still got steamrolled. The Thunder have a very fine team with a lot of good athletes but I don't think they are quite as good as the Knights made them appear to be. Tyler Peters is an excellent player, the offense runs through his hands and he had a far greater impact on the game than the 13 points he scored. Wheaton was just far tougher and more physical than Calvin as the 41-27 thrashing the Knights suffered on the boards attests. Freshmen Michael Berg is a real find for Wheaton and is already an impact player on the boards and defensively, as he blocked 5 shots and made life miserable in the paint for would-be scorers. The interior defense for both teams was very good but Wheaton did a better job at covering the perimeter. When Calvin had only 20 at half I said they wouldn't do that again in the second frame. Once again I was right. ::) The Knights had few good looks, must have gone 10 minutes without a basket, never had any rhythm on offense and got totally frustrated as evidenced by the flagrant foul called on the normally mild mannered Tyler Dykstra. A weird game by the officials. The didn't seem to call any of the contact when a post player went to the hoop (partly explaining the tough shooting night Tyler Kruis had) but they called more offensive fouls than any game I have ever attended. Only 3-8 from the stripe for Calvin--even the ever reliable Jordan Brink missed the front end of a one-and-one.

The first game was a pretty solid win for Hope over an athletic but young Carthage team, with Hope winning more convincingly than the 12 point margin would indicate. It was quite a track meet of a game, a bit sloppy at times, and Calvin will see a much different pace this afternoon than they did Friday night.

Following breakfast at Butterfield's I got up and walked past a table that included a distinguished looking older black gentleman who looked vaguely familiar. In the parking lot I walked by a Yukon showing the Illinois plate BILLY26. My Cubs-loving brother-in-law quickly confirmed that was the Hall-of-Famer sweet swinging Billy Williams who sat near us.

North Central 64 Trine 47

NCC really dominated the last 15 minutes of the game or so, 2 pt game with 15 to play.  Ian Jackson finished with 21 and didn't seem to have much help from anyone else.

Carthage 74  Calvin 63

Calvin lead by 5 with just over 6 min. to go.  Carthage scores 24 points, and Calvin 8 after that.

Adrian leads Carnegie Mellon 19-11 at the half.......that is correct and I'm actually watching this and surprisingly entertained.

Kzoo leads Chicago 39-29, I could also watch this but I'm not.

In a few minutes I will watch Hope at Wheaton.

Later today:
Baldwin Wallace at Alma
Elmhurst at Albion

I can watch both of them if I choose.  Today I am thankful for D3 schools who embrace modern technology.

I don't know how many more hints it will take, probably more than its worth.

Adrian scored 19 first half points and is shooting 47%......I didn't know this was possible in the modern game of basketball.

Chicago 76 Kzoo 73   Chicago came from 9 down in the 2nd half to win, Mark Ghafari had 28.  This would have been a nice surprise win.

Adrian 62 Carnegie Mellon 51      eh, I don't know how the second half went but Adrian led by about 20 at one point, it probably got closer out of boredom.

As impressive as that is, neither scored 19 pointss and shot 47% in one half.

Wheaton 79 Hope 75

Really good comeback to make it close, Hope had many chances to make it even closer but couldn't quite do it.  Wheaton played really good D for about 10 minutes early in the second half to take control of the game, led by 15 before Hope made their comeback.

Seiler 18, Overway 14, Snuggerud 13, Benson 12

PS.... its awesome that my shadow checked in to do her daily deed, you rock baby.

Scots survive a late push by BW.  The BW coach got himself tossed with two quick T's midway through the 2nd half gave up 3 FT's, been a long time since I've seen that in a D3 game if ever.

Isiah Law had +20 the livestats kept sticking so nothing else.

Albion 67 Elmhurst 59

For the day the league went 3-4, 3-3 in-region.   A couple big wins by Albion and Alma
