I was not in attendance at Hope, but here are some thoughts/questions based on the LIVEstats (once they started working again):

1.  28-73 from the field, 38.4%, MC only takes 57 shots
2.  10-25 from 3, but exclude Edison's 5-8, rest of team 5-17, 29.4%
3.  6-19 from FT line (C'mon MAN!), Seiler, Grant Neil and Benson a combined 3-13, 23.1%
4.  If Seiler is taking 15 shots in a game, Hope is in trouble
5.  Outrebounded 46-37
6.  NVA, 51 seconds in the 1st half
7.  Snuggs, only 15 minutes for game and only 2 minutes in 2nd half (was there an injury?)
8.  Caleb Byers, 5 minutes in 1st half, zero in 2nd half

Looks like our trip South has brought more questions than answers.

Spring Arbor beat Albion 60-53. Couldn't find any game stats yet.

Spring Arbor 60 Albion 53

Smith 16, Hurth 11, Herron 10
Spring Arbor used a 17-2 run to start the 2nd half and held the Brits to 21 points.

Ever watch a drunk guy try to walk down a steep hill.  You know whats coming and you want to watch but you kind of feel sorry for the guy.   That's the MIAA's overall and in-region records right now.

A few weeks back, I mentioned that I thought the Hope lineup would turn out to be- Overway, Seiler, Edison, Snuggs and Benson, with whittenbach slipping in when fully healthy.  Wish i knew how to copy and paste.....

It would be awesome if someone close to the program, you know who you are, would/could enlighten those of Us who don't know anything about basketball....what is going on with Snuggs? I know his back has been an issue but 1 game after a substantial amount of down time is great cause for concern.   Or is it an attitude issue?  I'm guessing by the complete and utter silence by the usual suspects, it means something substantial is going down.

Nothing should be a secret nor sacred.  Calvin and Adrian are simply sitting back and licking their chops at this point and as SAC just eluded to....Hope just isn't a very good team right now

The difference in FG attempts isn't a big deal because most of the difference came from the last 2 1/2 minutes.   In these 2 1/2 minutes Hope took 11 shots to zero for MC.  The rest of the difference probably comes from Hope's turnover advantage.

Was at the game at RDV in Orlando tonight and have seen all of Hope's games this season. At this point I see Hope as a team that has all the pieces, but at this point they are simply not fitting together quite right. One night the defense is lacking, or the rebounding, or the FT shooting. I see all of that related to a team dealing with some health issues and 50% of the team being new this year. I firmly believe they will put it all together, just not sure when.

As for this game, the FT shooting was awful and they were simply outplayed by an extremely athletic Choctaw team.  Here's hoping for a better outcome versus IWU on Saturday.

Sorry, but here's hoping not! ;D

I agree, FDF.  Although I'll admit that my optimism is challenged a bit by the last couple week's results, it remains true that Hope's men played two top 15 DIII teams to the wire--on their home courts, and with one of their projected starters and offensive weapons only now becoming available.

I'm guessing that, during these pre-league games, Coach Neil is focused on player development as well as winning, and hence the unusual distribution of playing time last evening, as noted by OK and others.

So they traveled the country to....not win?  They could have stayed in holland for that.  Still does not explain your preseason all-American being a non factor and not playing. They're 1/3 of the way through the season already....concern.  They are not going to 11-12 deep (a consistent rotation this deep) once the conference season begins.  They didn't do it with better lineups, they won't do it with unproven, new kids.

I do hope they find themselves in Orlando.  That's the beauty of trips, camps, etc...and maybe that's what this team needs.  A leader to step up, trust in one another strengthened, confidence in a youngster or two growing....

Calvin had been the drunk guy for two years. ;)

Adrian over Otterbein
Adrian over Wooster
Adrian over Northwestern Ohio

But also combined for a .750 in-region record in the non-conference those years.  :)

The IWU/Hope game tomorrow should be very interesting.  The Titans have struggled during the non-conference and almost all of the above could be said about IWU too so far in 2012-13.  Looking forward to seeing how that one plays out.

Massey would rate FAMU as the #19 team if they were in D3. That is also to say that Massey would predict Calvin to play them evenly if a game were to be played at VNA.

Once upon a time I saw Florida A&M play Michigan.  It was not even.
