Worst Hope loss to Calvin since 1990.  Calvin 95 Hope 68 in the NCAA Tournament.  Also the first H/C game I attended.  Good times.

Fewest points Hope's scored vs Calvin since 1952.  Calvin 84 Hope 43

.....that's 61 years.   :-\

Calvin clearly dominated the game, but I was really impressed how strong Hope came out the start the second half.  They easily won the first five minutes and cut the lead to below 20.  I mentioned to a friend that Calvin better start to match the defensive intensity of Hope during that period, or watch the entire lead vanish.  Calvin did, and that was it.

Calvin braintrust still probably thinks that KVS should be fired. #NeverSatisfied #KnowItAll

How about the Dew Crew with chants of "you can't fill it?" I know the boys in orange and blue had a rough shooting night but that's harsh!

"You can't fill it" doesn't work quite as well after fans begin leaving because the game is non-competitive.

Wow. All I can say is wow. I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong, and I was wrong about this years Calvin team. It doesn't erase 5 bad years but it sure as heck makes this one feel pretty damn good. Congrats to KVS and the knights

Although that "cheer" could have been used at any point in the entire evening, so it is still  relevant and IMHO is effective

PS: MN just said they will run the table

Did he really say that?  if so, that amounts to a prediction that his team will lose to Calvin on 2/9 and again in the MIAA tourney if they meet.  If I was a Hope player, I wouldn't respond well to my own coach actually predicting future losses.

And yes, I was shocked at how out of shape and lackadaisical Snuggerud looked.  Sure he only got 11 min of time but zero boards and his only FG was a long three that he chucked up?  Didn't work for anything, shadow of his former self.  From all appearances, he seems to have completely quit on his teammates and it will be interesting to see how the rest of his season plays out.

Yes, on the local fox new broadcast, but the quote meant that Hope would win out the rest of the MIAA games.

Calvin's defensive efficiencey this year, game by game:

Opponent    DEff
Grace Bible   72.6
Anderson      73.7
Hope        73.8
at Kalamazoo  76.4
North Park    76.6
Wabash        79.3
Adrian        82.5
Finlandia     84.0
Alma          85.2
Aquinas       88.5
Wheaton       89.6
Ripon         89.8
Cornerstone   90.2
Manchester    92.2
at Albion     99.1
Carthage     107.4
TOTAL         85.1

100 would be roughly league average. Calvin's raw defensive efficiency numbers are currently the best the MIAA has seen since at least 2002 (as far back as I can go). Right now barely edging out the 2006 Hope team's 86.4 season mark.

Worthy of a "news" article??

http://www.calvin.edu/chimes/2013/01/16/calvin-students-take-hope-banner-hostage-during-rivalry-game/

Of course it is for the Calvin student newspaper. It's not like it was the GR Press writing the story. Just some students having some fun.

I thought the rejoinder "We've got Michael" as a large headshot of the new prez was featured, was the most clever and inventive riposte from the Calvin students in many years.

Got it, thanks, I misinterpreted.  It never occurred to me that after that showing last night he would be talking about Hope going undefeated the rest of the season.
