Great win for Calvin on a clutch shot!  Was everyone else having the same problem with Live Stats that I was.  It was showing some old game rather than tonight's game.  Boy did the announcer on the video murder De Vries and Dykstra's names.  It was hard to figure out who he was talking about at first.

Powell has had a fine senior year coming off the bench.  I strongly suspect he made oldknight's birthday a very happy one, although I think my friend's hair is a little grayer and thinner as a result of the game.

Powell with 13 points. Snikkers with 10.  Tyler Kruis had only 2 points, and was a non-factor.

Powell for President.  What a shot!

as ziggy often says, you can take the kid out of the Park, but you can't take the Park out of the kid.

M & G  next time mute the sound on the video, and listen to the Calvin broadcast.  Get the live stats from the Calvin site.

This was a great 4 game stretch for Calvin.  A 4-0 record, winning at home against Hope, and then winning 3 straight away games at Trine, Olivet, and Adrian has really put Calvin in a great position
for the last 3 weeks of the season.

I had excellent video from Adrian. The announcer had trouble with a couple names but did a nice job.

It's "The Park" not the Park, and Powell was one of last heirs to the shooting guard positions for the Vikings. You could say he was a sort of poor man's Drew Neitzel, Bryan's most famed basketball predecessor at the school that recently merged with Rogers HS. I've long thought of Bryan as one of those players who seems almost (pre)destined to break the heart of one coach or the other every time the ball is in his hands and he has had an excellent senior campaign. Happily Mark White is the one crying tonight.

Watching the Alma video feed.  Close all night but Hope now beginning to pull away.  I would think Benson will get his starting role back next week for the Dutchmen.

Nice video from Alma, thank you!

However, rough night for "Live" stats

Tonight's win over Adrian is pretty significant for Calvin at a couple of levels. It makes the Knights the heavy favorite to win the conference season now as they maintain a two game lead and have four of their last six games at home. Given their remaining schedule it would be surprising if Calvin lost more than one regular season MIAA game. Also, if the Knights fail to win the AQ, a Pool C bid is more likely given a second win over a quality opponent.

In other Michigan news tonight, EMU scored only 42 points - and won by 17!  NIU set several NCAA records for futility - including FOUR first half points, on 3.1% shooting from the field, and 13.2% shooting for the game.  After their only first half field goal staked them to a 2-0 lead, the Huskies missed their next THIRTY SIX shots in a row!  (Glad I was not in that halftime locker room! :P)

I don't think much was said. I mean, what DO you say to that? "Alright guys, I think we did some good things out there, we just need to improve everything".

If Peter really got 2 minutes of PT, I would be mighty interested to know what the NCAA would say about that. :o
