The Championships Committee has prioritized the following site-selection criteria for all championships:
1. Complete Bid;
2. Quality and availability of the facility and other necessary accommodations;
3. Geographical location (which may include such factors as rotation of sites, weather, accessibility and transportation costs);
4. Seeding; and
5. Attendance history, hosting history and revenue potential, which shall be considered necessary to assure fiscal
responsibility.

Doesn't this say Calvin has a good chance to host at least a 1st round game?

Regional Rankings have suggested seeding will be the issue.

The hip-thursting kid in a sumo costume is a nice touch.  You stay classy San Diego!

He was right next to me for several minutes of the first half, repeatedly obstructing my view. I told my wife if he came back after halftime I was going to take out my pocket knife and puncture the suit. Seriously. He must have overheard because I never saw him again.

Watch you, he's coming for you...

It's looking to me like Calvin is going to have to hit the road to start the tournament. That would be a huge bummer.

Any idea what home court is worth?

Maybe we could take a collection and bribe the committee members?

While I prefer the format where 1/2 the teams are at home, it does mean that traveling teams will be playing a team at home instead of 1/2 the teams playing at neutral sites. I'm guessing that in the past Calvin fans (and certainly Hope fans) have brought good sized fan bases with them to these neutral games making it feel a little bit like a home game. I doubt that will be the case with the new format.

How likely is it that Calvin's women will get into the tournament and host?

It boggles my mind that he/she/it would think blackface is okay... Lets take a caricature and make it more inaccurate and offensive!   I just don't get it.

Seems like Calvin has a pretty wide ranging list of potential opponents, some realistic others not.  All within 500 miles.

Pool A's
UW-Whitewater
Spalding
Marietta
Ohio Wesleyan
Aurora
St. Norbert
Rose-Hulman
North Central
PSU-Behrend
Washington, Stl.
Dubuque
Hobart*

Pool B
Centre  (496 on mapquest w/o using school's addresses, could be out of range with NCAA software)

Likely Pool C's
Rochester*
UW-Stevens Point
Wooster
Wheaton
Illinois Wesleyan

Potential Pool C
Transylvania
Buena Vista

*Hobart/Rochester are both within 500 miles using Mapquest going through Canada, I have no idea if the NCAA's software of choice uses that route.

Actually, it wasn't blackface. He had a black stocking over his head. His partner on the other side of the basket wore a white Halloween mask. While I wasn't amused because he kept getting in my way, my wife thought he was hilarious and told me to chill. As you might tell, we go to games with somewhat differing interests.

The Calvin student section was quite good last night. During a break in the action, green man led the students in what I'm told is the Harlem shuffle. My first introduction to the art. How quaint.

So is it the Harlem shuffle or the Harlem shake?

As you can tell, I'm struggling to stay current with contemporary culture.

Harlem shake = the dance you saw yesterday and on the two Hope videos; performed to the song "Harlem Shake" by Baauer.

Harlem shuffle = a '60s line dance performed to the Bob & Earl R&B hit "Harlem Shuffle" (1963); the song was covered numerous times, most notably by the Rolling Stones, who had a hit with it in 1986.

Here's the Calvin version of the Harlem Shake. Sound and video aren't great, and I'm not even sure I have the link correct......

Good to see all those pre-game rim rattlers were worth it.
