Mike is retired, available and the ability to play golf on someone else's dime is probably attractive to him. ;)

I know this is an absolutely a crazy idea but who else agrees with me that there should be an MIAA dunk contest? All you people who have watch Hope warmups have seen Chase Demaagd and Holwerda do some sweet dunks. Each team puts in 2 players, the conference chooses were to host (maybe Van Andel ;D haha not a chance), they sell tickets and BABAM!!! We have a competition some would enjoy to see. Then we could add in a 3 pointer competion.

Not to mention the long-term dividends of KVS spending this weekend at the Breslin, in full-bore recruiting mode.

Some March madness from the Breslin in Class C

Laingsburg is coached by Hope grad Greg Mitchell.  Sounds like everyone in Laingsburg was at this game.

Here is your team-that-beat-the-team update from earlier today:

St. Thomas 82
Williams 79

The Tommies trailed by 8 at halftime and faced a couple double-digit deficits in the first half but opened the second half strong (sound familiar?). Six Tommies attempted three point shots, all hit on at least 50% as they went 15-25 from deep overall.

Here is a fun fact I learned from the gentleman sitting next to me at St. Thomas last weekend but neglected to relay earlier in the week: John Nance (St. Thomas #24) originally was at the U of Minnesota on a football scholarship but opted to transfer to play basketball at UST when he got stuck behind MarQueis Grey. According to Nance's Gopher athletics page (http://www.gophersports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/020408aar.html) he received basketball interest as a prep from Wisconsin and Iowa.

St. Thomas and North Central both move in to the semi's.  So both Hope and Calvin can claim a loss to a final four team this year.

I would really like to see those two in the final. After the UST/Calvin game I believed the NCAA's only chance at having a game in Atlanta that could match last weekend's game in St. Paul was UST/NCC.

The way Mary Hardin-Baylor has been playing and the double digit wins by Amherst over all three opponents, make a final with those two teams entirely possible. I'm hoping for the same matchup that you are though, since I have a player from each of those teams still alive in the fantasy league.

From today's church bulletin at Shawnee Park CRC:

Pray for David Rietema who recently broke his hand. The doctors have not yet decided on the most appropriate course of treatment. Pray for wisdom for the doctors and patience for David.

Still can't believe he played 17 minutes against St. Thomas.

He played a total of 30 minutes at Stevens Point.  I think he hurt it on a drive to the basket at the 11 minute mark of the first half.  He played a significant part of that game with a broken hand.
