Robbers' Official Immunity?

If you are positioned correctly, embezzlement pays MUCH better than robbery.  Though stealing from government or clients pays MUCH, MUCH better.

Being long retired, I no longer recall the precise figures, but studies of dollar amounts and sentences found something along the lines of:

burglary: 1 year per $150 stolen
robbery: 1 year per $300 stolen
embezzlement: 1 year per $80,000 stolen
Medicare fraud: 1 year per $450,000 stolen
price fixing: 1 year per $3,000,000 stolen
securities fraud: 1 year per $20,000,000 stolen

(All figures, of course, are VERY rough estimates.  They are based on amounts admitted to (or given in trial testimony), and only for the offense being tried, which is usually not a first offense.  Odds are that almost all criminals actually made out better than listed.))

Siena Heights head coach Joe Pechota's twitter is claiming a 'commitment' from SVSU transfer Stone Beckwith.  #Saintsswag

So he's not going to Alma.

Shoot that's too bad for Alma.  That would have been a good pick-up....

Contrary to what I mentioned earlier, it looks like Alma's Kyle Slagell is no longer considering Calvin and Spring Arbor...

What interests me most here is the veritable "wild west" mentality of the NAIA thought process. Such shenanigans (i.e. "chatter") about an UNSIGNED recruit -- "committed" or not -- would be grounds for censure in the morally-upright NCAA, would they not???

I'm kind of assuming 'commitment' here means Stone signed w/Sienna Heights that day.  And yes I believe NCAA coaches have pretty severe and kind of ridiculous restrictions on talking about recruits, signed or unsigned.

I don't know stuff like that off-hand like I used to.   #old

When Carlos Pena got that single in the 7th inning, I could hear Jim Leyland's sigh of relief all the way to Ypsilanti (and the game was in Houston!).  Justin Verlander had a no-no going after 6.1 innings, but had already thrown over 100 pitches by that point.  If it gets to be the 8th, Justin is still well on his way to a 3rd no-hitter, but he's already thrown 130 pitches, the manager is in one TOUGH spot (especially so early in the season)! :P

Sorry to burst your bubble but for a kid whose parents went to Purdue, he is getting looks from there and he is looking for academically prestigious college he probably won't choose Hope. Not saying that they don't have a good academic standing but when placed next to the powerhouses you see that a D3 school in Holland would not compare to some Ivy league Universities out west.

Unless you live in Bermuda, the Ivy League is out east! ;D

But I did wonder why Q singled out Hope.  I saw nothing in the article to indicate any religious or other ties to Hope (perhaps Q knows his religious affiliation?).  Looks at this point to be a major d1 guy.

Its moot now (or mute on this board) but the Tigers have 2 days off in the next four, Verlander isn't scheduled to pitch until next Saturday.  Jimmy might have rolled the dice on that one.
