About time my HS sent some one to Calvin to play ball.  Seems its more of a Trinity or Hope pipeline.  If I recall, Powers coached at Timothy after Don Greenfield was removed, hence that potential connection from Naperville.

Today is a bad day for my basketball memories but I can only think of Ryan Klein who's ended up in orange and blue.

anyone else I'm forgetting?
I mentioned Trinity Christian College as well.  A couple of Timothy's big guys went there who would have looked good at Calvin.   One of the Huizenga boys can't recall his first name.  Matt I think

Arena- see my previous post following you're statement about Timothy players and coach Powers....John Huizenga was the player who went to Trinity. Played there with Ross Stuursma from Chicago Christian who spurned D1 football preferred walk on status and low end offers to play hoops at Trinity.
I thought that was his name, thanks.  Used to go to church with his family and had his face in my head, but couldn't think of his name.

OK  Did Bill De Horn  65-66 play h.s. ball at Timothy?  I recall he was from the Chicago area, but not which h.s.  Those were the days when Trinty College was only a 2 year program.  Bill De Horn shares the rebounds per game MIAA record (17.1 for 12 games)  with an Alma player.
Bill was about 6'4", and 220 lbs.  He loved to do two handed reverse slams during warmups from a standing flatfooted start directly under the basket.  Played like a bulked up Snikkers or M. Lodewyk on steroids.

DeHorn was a Chicago Christian graduate. Rugged, tough as nails and a terrific player who no doubt would fit seamlessly into the modern game.
Thanks.  I remember his playing, but not the h.s.  Yes, he would do quite nicely with a more "physical" style of play.  Not that he did poorly in his day.  I have always thought he would have more records if he had played more than the one year at Calvin.
Bill had a great freshman year and it was fun to see him go up against Brady.  He left for Taylor and returned to Calvin in his senior year but was in the doghouse with coach Vroon too much to get meaningful minutes.  When he returned, the Lew Alcindor "no dunk" rule was in effect.  The first time Bill got his hands on the ball in his senior year, he immediately went to the hoop for a two-handed jam and delightfully took the technical.
While DeHorn attended Chicago Christian, another player from the Chicago area was Bill VanDyke, who graduated from Timothy and was a year behind DeHorn.  VanDyke started on a good team with Taatjes, Wiers, DeKuiper, and Phelps.  Who can forget that goofy 1-4 offense?
Now that you mention it I sort of remember his return, but he never matched the level of play his fr. year.  I think it is safe to say he was one of the better athletes to play for Calvin in that era, and definitely one of the all time most colorful characters to ever wear the Maroon and Gold.

Former Timothy players that played for Calvin would include Ken Klein (Ryan's dad) and possibly Steve Cevaal. (sp?)  Cevaal may have only played JV.  I believe they were HS teammates of Jeff Heerdt.

Also via twitter Calvin has gotten Wuoi Mack, Stephen Hooker and Bryce Oldham. I followed Unity Basketball and Stephen is exactly what they need when it comes to ballhandling.

.

Stephan Hooker was a member of the  2012 Michigan HS Soccer coaches dream team.  He was a decent HS basketball player,  he was a great HS soccer player.

Your enthusiasm is, well, extremely enthusiastic.  But your reportage leaves something to be desired.  Bryce Oldham came to Calvin last year and played JV ball.  He is now transferring out.  Wuoi Mach is a track star who is not coming to Calvin, as far as I know.  And, as almcguirejr so discerningly pointed out, Stephan Hooker will be playing on the pitch, not the hardwood, for the Knights next fall.  Other than that, you nailed it, HK.  It may not be the post of the year, but it certainly has my vote for post of the day.

They seem to be playing a real schedule this year.

Albion has a partial schedule posted  http://gobrits.com/sports/mbkb/2013-14/schedule

While College of Faith is there the first weekend, they are not scheduled to play the Britons.

Right that's the Tip-off tournament. It's not clear if that means they're scheduled to play Calvin on Friday as usual, or if they're simply going to be there.

In related news, Calvin was looking for a fourth team for the Tournament as recently as April 10.

Here's to hoping that CoF became that 4th team and that the field isn't currently Calvin, Grace Bible, College of Faith, TBD.

Also, Anderson's site shows that their series with Calvin will continue. They play Tuesday, November 19 at Anderson.

A common concussion symptom, goodknight, and not at all surprising, particularly if you took FDF's admonition to repeat the "head.desk" action that KS reported (beautiful KS--still laughing about that!)...
And in the "still laughing" category, with all the nominations for "post of the____" going around, I'd like to nominate sac's "a change up, a fast ball, and a hard diving breaking ball...3 strikes and out" as the "Posterization of the Month."  Is there any YouTube video footage available? ;)
