Do people really care about their Karma ratings?

Some might care enough to make blank posts so they can check what they look like. :)

.

Pretty sure that if you really care about your +/- Karma you can just click on your profile rather than posting a blank post that everyone has to look at.

FWIW  I just checked to see if Hope home volleyball games are being shown (they are not), and if that is any indication I wouldn't hold my breath for bball games.  :(
Like Hope posters I really would like to see Hope home games with a live video stream.

Agreed, no breath-holding needed. The prevailing theory? hypothesis?  (Science majors please help me) is that, while the technology has always been at the ready, the Dutch uppercrust are concerned the live stream would take away from home attendance banners, and thus provide less bulk purchasing power on the ketchup/mustard aisle at Sam's Club.

Block IP numbers that originate in the West Michigan area and/or release video after the game in archive form.

These were floating around the CCIW page, DIII News pre-season rankings

Basically the same pages:

one has the team ranking in the right ledger  http://cciw.org/custompages/CCIW_Links/General/Misc/MENTOP25.pdf

one has the individual honorable mentions  http://cciw.org/custompages/CCIW_Links/General/Misc/MENPSAA.pdf

Also a nice congratulations to Hope's mens golf team and coach Bob Ebels for winning the MIAA Championship today.  Bob's 15th in 22 years, I played on his first team.  We did not win the championship.

Came down to Hope and Calvin with Hope erasing a 16 stroke deficit by winning their home meet last week to take a 10 shot lead into todays final round at Calvin which Hope won by 1.  Hope and Calvin have now split the last 4 titles between them.

This Top 25 information is interesting, but I suspect that it has little to do with the reality of the teams this year.  It likely reflects more on how the team performed last year.  Do the voters or editors who put the list together know much about who graduated and the quality of the incoming players as they would with Division 1 teams?  My guess is that they do not.  Interesting that Mark Ghafari of Kalamazoo is the only one from the MIAA that rates a mention on the preseason watch list.  Isn't Ian Jackson of Trine, last year's scoring leader still around?  Maybe the league just has few outstanding players at this point, but it seems unusual that just one player would be mentioned.

sac

Ian Jackson has graduated.  Mark Ghafari will likely finish as one of Kzoo's top 5 all-time scorers.  Outside of Mark, the MIAA doesn't really return any big scorers.  Off the top of my head the league lost 8 or 9 of the top 14 or 15 scorers from last year.  Maybe a couple potential big scorers return but nothing proven.

After checking the list of top 10 scorers, I have to agree that what is left are unproved potential scorers who still have plenty to prove.  It appears that there will be some unusually young teams,  Hope likely to start 3 sophomores and Calvin with 2 unknown starters at a forward and guard spot.  It is also a year in which quite a number of teams seem to have an especially strong freshman class.  Kalamazoo's freshman class looks outstanding in its potential with Dykema from Forest Hills and a big center from Calvin Christian.  Alma seemed to have a stronger freshman class, too, and Calvin's looks strong if all the reported incoming freshmen actually came to Calvin.

Who is the center from Calvin Christian, and which Calvin Christian (MI, MN, CA) is he from?

Josh Miller, Calvin Christian, Grandville, MI.  He's a 6'8" kid that will need some time to develop.
