OT -  A former player's perspective on Mack Brown:  http://chrishall.org/post/70188867939/mack-brown-my-coach-a-players-perspective
Thanks for sharing this.  It reminded me of post game comments after the Calvin/Finlandia game last week.  While Finlandia isn't doing so well at stacking up the victories, KVS remarked how coach Terry Smith is succeeding at a larger mission of mentoring young student athletes, some who have come from difficult situations, in a variety of positive ways.

Calvin down to #16 in this week's D3 Hoops poll.

Son of former Alma player, Chuck Holmquist.  I imagine Sam Hargraves would have liked to have Jared as well.

All of last season 100 points was only reached 4 times in games played by MIAA teams.  Already this season 100 points has been achieved 10 times.  We still have about 80 games to play.

With Olivet, Alma, Kzoo pushing the pace of games into the 150 possessions in a game range, we'll surely see quite a few more 100 point games before we're done.

We are going to need more tacos.

Calvin has long had a distinguished faculty in its Philosophy Department. During my time as a student, the two most respected (and feared, from a GPA point of view--if you know my meaning) were Al Plantinga and Nick Wolterstorff. Sadly, I didn't have the courage to take classes from both of them so I settled on Wolterstoff's offering on Basic Logic. I think he taught me something about syllogisms. It is not:

A > B
C > A
Ergo B > C

Albion basketball is so good it can open up new vistas in Basic Logic. :o 8-)

Part of this Basic Logic mystery may have been solved.  Earlham is down to 9 players on its roster, 5 Fr., 4 Soph's.

By my calculations they were missing 45 minutes of contributions from two guys who no longer appear on the roster.  Between them they had also started 10 games.
