More March Madness, from officials this time.

Class A regional final  Cass Tech/UD-Jesuit,  UD-Jesuit makes a pair of free-throws with seconds on the clock to win.....and 6 men on the floor.

We did that at UWSP once... it was during crunch-time of the game at Gustavus Adolphus in 03-04. Out of a timeout, there was supposed to be a sub... but the subbed guy didn't come out. We held to the end of the shot clock and then ran a play and scored inside... our manager noticed that we had 6 and called Kyle Grusczynski over (from the floor), and he stepped off and grabbed a cup of water and sat down. We watched the video a whole bunch of times.. the guy who was defending him looked from him to the ball and back to him, but he wasn't on the floor anymore...

After we scored, GAC pushed it and got fouled. They then complained about the 6 men, but since they had tried to score, the play couldn't be reviewed or reversed.

Point ended up winning that game by 11, 66-55 and the National Championship on a buzzer beater with .2 seconds over Williams.

Don't know if this has been touched on or not but for Knights seeking to watch tonight's game here is a live feed.

wiz

Dickinson is a good step quicker than Wheaton and giving them fits in first half.  Officials calling it tight.  Both of these teams are beatable.  It will be Calvin or IWU advancing.

Dickinson just plain out playing a less talented team. Lot of fouls being called haven't seen a lot being given. It would be nice to think Calvin/IWU is shoed into the Final Four but what we have to remember this is March and things can become Madness. Alot of ill advised shots coming out of the hands the Wheaton Thunder. I also saw a little of zone by Dickinson.

I hate it when there isn't a clock in the video feed.
I hate it when Calvin can't hit free throws

But at least it shows the score.  Some don't even do that.  But really helps to see the time, too.

Mr. Ypsi

Calvin totally dominated for about 11-12 minutes after Victor Davis's early onslaught.  But what a final few minutes for the Titans!

Broadcasters should never stop repeating score and time, no matter whether they're posted on the screen or not.

But when your broadcast doesn't have one of those graphics, or either one, it's doubly important for the PBP guy to keep repeating them as often as possible.

Is this a student announcer?  He is really trying too hard.

Gregory Sager

Yeah, he is. He's usually their commentator rather than the PBP guy, and you can tell -- he doesn't do a good job of following the action, because he's mostly concentrating on making commentary.

As student PBP guys go, though, I've definitely heard worse.

and the hay is in the barn...
38% from the field, 20% from 3, and 64% from the line isn't going to get it done on the road in the Sweet 16.   :(

Welp, fun season. IWU is very good and flat-out beat Calvin tonight. It's unfortunate that the Knights couldn't get a few more of those threes to rattle home during that middle stretch, but IWU forced them into some tough looks.

Didn't seem like it would be a Sweet 16 season a month ago -- even two weeks ago -- but Calvin's path to get here tonight was indeed a legitimate one. Great job fellas. I'm going to miss Kruis and DeVries next season.

sac

Interesting how the whole 2014 season looks a lot like 2006 with the Hope/Calvin roles reversed.  Right down to losing a frustrating Sweet 16 game because you didn't shoot it well on the hosts floor.

A couple things that jumped out at me last night was now poised IWU was and just how good their ball movement was.  I really thought Calvin had a decent defensive game, but the way IWU moved the ball was really fun to watch.  I won't be surprised to see them win the whole thing.
