Looks good to me.  That first group of womens games in January either needs to be in December or spread out during January/Feb.  I recommend Monday's or Friday's.  Schools aren't to keen on having to open their doors early after Christmas breaks for athletes already.

You're hired, though I should point out sacsscheduleconsulting.com doesn't pay well......or at all really.

Jordan Brink is playing in the Moneyball Pro-Am league in Lansing this summer along with Jared Holmquist and future Alma player Doug Bradfield.

Jordan and Doug are on the Green team with Drew and Denzel Valentine

Games are Tue/Thur at the AIM High facility on the Southwest side of Lansing.  WILX-10 actually had a camera out there Tues to record the event for their news program.  Large crowd.

If you need your fix, not a bad idea...and free.

Jordan Brink is no longer on the 'Team Green' roster.  Apparently the Valentine's are ball hogs.

Holmquist and Bradford are still playing, and its still free.

Last night was the best night of the year for Moneyball -- no MSU players showed up!

I figured as much. My whole intent was really just to prove that it was possible and that the "St. Mary's screws things up", "Wednesday night shared gym", "Starting in December/January" arguments are all invalid. I mimicked this years schedule, in which both Hope teams are playing January 3rd (the girls at Capital and the guys at Hope) It would be very easy to make the girls play 4 conference games in December...

I quit when I felt I had proven those points, but would most likely make a few more tweaks if it was anything "real" (like not having Hope's girls open MIAA play @ Calvin...)

Wooster's master schedule reveals Hope will be playing Spalding while UW-LaCrosse will play Wooster.  Its set up as a traditional tournament.

Dec 29

You may want to run the schedule idea past Olivet to see what their women's team thinks about a stretch in the middle of the season of 7 road games and only 1 at home...

In searching around, I was surprised to find that Hope's women end this year with 6 away and 2 home in their second round of conference play (and start with the exact opposite of course).  Most of the time those numbers are limited to 5/3 or 4/4 with no stretch of more than 3 games in either direction.

It's never going to be perfect for everyone (nor should it be). But you're choosing to view both of those stretches as negative and I tend to take the opposite approach...

Olivet's stretch in the middle of my mock schedule results in 4 of their last 5 games being played in the Cutler Event Center. As for the Hope's Women's team, this season they are returning the reigning MIAA MVP, their second leading scorer from last season, and two talented (and hopefully 100% healthy guards) Angelique Gaddy and Brittany Berry. I don't think it would be unrealistic to say that winning the MIAA is the first of their many lofty goals for this season and finishing the year with 6 out of 8 road games will be a great test heading into tournament play.

This seems true, but should not be a consideration when determining the fairness of the scheduling.

John Beilein has one scholarship left to give out and it may be going to a DIII transfer: http://www.freep.com/article/20140729/SPORTS06/307290100/michigan-basketball-duncan-robinson

The connection between coaches is interesting.  Former Williams coach, now Marsit coach Mike Maker was a Beilein assistant at West Virginia and John's son was also a candidate for the Marist job.

There's a robust conversation on the NESCAC board about Duncan Robinson with references to Spike Albrecht.  You Michigan fans might enjoy jumping in. :)

Agreed. But it is also a commentary on the shifting definition of "fairness" being mostly in the eye of the beholder. Is the glass half full or half empty?

Wasn't Gotfredson a walk-on who eventually earned a scholarship?

Richaud Pack also left Adrian to go to a  D1 in Tennessee before landing at Maryland (which is now somehow in the BIG)

Earned a spot at starting PG.  Those were some stellar UM squads.   ;)
