A lot of talk about Holmquist and he was indeed outstanding.  Pretty much unstoppable if he got the ball in the low block, incredible for a player his size.

But in this game Blackledge was his equal and even had better stats.  Harrison's versatility to be a threat from around the basket to out past the arc is really impressive.  His mid range jumper was deadly yesterday.  I'd say he has elevated his game in one year as much as anyone in the league.

Its my understanding there are tickets (lots maybe?) available for Wednesday's Hope @ Calvin game at 6pm.  Call your desired ticket office I'm sure they can help you out.

If you've never been to one in person, this may be your best chance.

***just to clarify, both schools have tickets available and have not sold their allotment, student or otherwise.

I don't know if this is an archive or how long it will last but you can watch Hope/Trine at this link  http://hope.edu/streaming
Overtime starts just before the 2 hour mark.

Calvin collapses and loses 87-85 in OT.  Outscored 20-2 in the last 7:19 minutes of regulation.

A mindboggling collapse. In the last 7 minutes, Calvin missed 8 floor shots, the front end of a one-and-one, committed 5 turnovers and got outscored 20-2. If you include the first minute of play during overtime, the Knights got outscored 25-2 in over 8 minutes of playing time. That's really mindboggling.
I thought I had seen it all this weekend. But then some unknown Seattle play-caller makes the most mind numbingly stupid decision in Superbowl history. Wow. Makes the Knights late collapse seem routine.

I'm alternating between watching Trine/Hope and Calvin/Alma. After board members spent the last several years shaking their heads at Hope's inability/unwillingness to invest in an internet video feed, I must say they've gotten it right in Holland. The video quality is outstanding even when going to full screen, and without any buffering. Alma's video isn't nearly as good as Hope's. Much muddier and frequent buffering. Better than nothing though.

The best part about Hope's broadcasts is the fact that they are on Youtube.  You can easily pull them up on your TV if it (or any device connected to it) has "Smart" capabilities and an internet connection.  The video quality is still quite good on my 48" TV.

OldKnight, last night I agreed with you about that play call.  But this morning (this is before reading the team's explanation or other commentary), I decided maybe Coach Carroll—whose successful end-of-the-first-half call defied the announcers' wisdom—was thinking smarter than the rest of us.

His problem perhaps was having burned that second time out at the five yard line, which meant, with 2nd and 1 and 30 seconds to go, he had a choice of either
a)   Two running plays, with a time out in between, or
b)   Two running plays plus a pass attempt (which either could be a surprise pass, as the first play, or on the second play—when everyone would expect it, given that it would be a free down; if it was incomplete he'd still have time for the 4th down play).

So, given a choice between run/run, run/pass/run, and pass/run/run, perhaps he and his staff were thinking, why not have three plays available, and use the pass when it's unexpected?  Alas . . . and, if only they hadn't burned that second time out, then they would have had a run/run/run option.

"Five letters here for just everybody out there in Knight-land: R-E-L-A-X.   Relax.  We're going to be OK."  Hey, it worked for the NFL MVP, thought I'd give it a whirl on here in an effort to bring OK's blood pressure down a couple notches.  The Knights will be fine on Wednesday...right?

I believe you're right. I've found buying online is pretty user friendly: http://www.calvin.edu/calendar/event.html?id=367842f1-df6a-4686-9d35-89d12a0469b2

You can easily see the best seats available and also pick your section if you want.  I believe there's a $1 fee to get them online over in-person.    After purchasing them, you can print them right out on spot for your actual tickets.  In other words, it's very similar what a lot do, say, if you're going to buy Detroit Tiger tickets online.

Next years Hope at Calvin game will fall on the last Saturday of the regular season and will be paired with the Hope at Calvin women's game.

What a fun day.

I will be missing the game (I believe my first Hope v. calvin game missed since the last time they met in the thanksgiving tournament, back when they could) due to simply not being able to get to GR by 6. Regardless, I would argue that the huge blunder of this years game isn't the starting time, but that the women's game following isn't Hope v. calvin, as well. I am for equality, but other match-ups aren't equal to Hope v. calvin. Very odd that a Hope v. calvin game is the precursor to a game against Olivet. Can't imagine that a mass exodus during warmups is the kind of confidence boost a player welcomes....

Yes, the double header will be on February 20th next year.

Also, the scheduling is a toss up.  With 9 teams on the women's side it is very hard to get both the men and women's games to line up.  And the league doesn't give special preference for Calvin and Hope.  There usually is 1 or 2 per year that it works out for.  Luckily, this will happen next year at Calvin.  Should be a great environment.

Thanks for your concern about the confidence level of the Calvin (note the capital C) women's team.  However, with their 19-0 reecord
KVS should be requiring his players to stay and watch the game with him, and maybe they all can learn a thing to two about basketball.   :) :)

Equally big game in Angola this Saturday as two defensive minded teams go at it again.  Can Trine be successful this time?  In a low scoring afair, Adrian won the the first one, 54-44.
