Any MIAAers on track for an All-American award this season?

I would think Brink would be in line for All-Region.  Bigger region now, tougher to make the final cut.

Great Lakes Region--Leading Scorers
Bernard Edwards, Defiance     21.1pts
Thayne Recker, Bluffton           20.5pts
Jammal Coleman, Medaille       20.1pts
Delonte' Joyce, Bethany           18.8pts
Max Mollaun, Anderson            18.6pts
Jordan Brink, Calvin                 18.6pts
Justin Roth, Bald-Wall              18.5pts
Drew Mumford, Thomas More  18.5 pts
Claude Gray, OWU                   19.8pts

Lots of guys not on that list that would get consideration like Jarrett Ruffin-Mt. Union or Garrett Stephenson-Marietta, Xavier Brown-Wooster, Nate Axelrod-OWU, Dan Fannelly-Wooster.  Plus a few from the HCAC, OAC, PAC and AMCC I'm just not familiar with.

Happy Calvin Guy

According to Massey, probabilities of winning the MIAA tourney:

Calvin 53.6%
Hope 28.0%
Trine 15.3%
Alma 3.1%

As we approach next week's tourney, it seems any of the four qualifying teams could win the AQ.  Alma has been very good as the season has progressed, and Trine, Hope and Calvin are dangerous when they play tough defense.

Looking ahead to the conference tourney, I couldn't agree more gk.  While I won't be surprised by any outcome, if Calvin digs in defensively, I like their chances an awful lot.

As long as I'm piggybacking on the thoughts of others, I'll also second ok's noting the importance of TJ Huizenga's contributions.  Someone much closer to the program recently told me that TJ is simply one of the best defenders Calvin has had in recent years, and I really like the Calvin rotation when TJ is playing the 20+ minutes he's averaged recently.  Take a look at the box scores of the last three games, and you'll see why.  In addition to his defense, he rebounds, looks for teammates, and can score a bit--and does none of the things that hurt you.  In short, he's the kind of guy people love to play with and will do whatever is needed to win--an important glue guy who makes his team better.  Calvin has plenty of scoring punch--it's their defense that will win them the tourney.

Have seen everyone on your list except Coleman, Joyce and Mollaun.  In my opinion Brink is as good as anyone on the list and better than most.  If I was voting for an MVP of your list I would have to say Edwards.  He's strengh, size and agility makes him hard to stop.  I believe he played High School ball in Detroit???

Edwards came to Defiance College from Cousino High School in Warren MI by way of one season at Macomb Community College.

For some the main objective may be to find any way to get to the NCAA tournament.  Of course, there already is a way and that is to win the MIAA tournament.

For other institutions and their coaches, the goal is to take a group of student athletes and continually work to improve their team to be the best that they can be.  That may include taking a few losses along the way by playing a tougher schedule, supporting community wide programs, traveling to far away areas to support faithful alumni, and all the other things required to provide an educational and holistic program for the team members.  While doing this, they are building a team that can grow throughout the season and be at their best when tournament time arrives.  The four teams remaining (Alma, Calvin, Hope, Trine) have all done that and now they are in a position where they have a chance to move on.  Only one will advance and the others, quite frankly, will have gone far enough for this year.

Earning it on the floor is so much more fun and rewarding than just being selected based on the formulas of the day.  I, for one, think this is a much better approach.

Its also nice to see kids rewarded for their hard work, especially when they are deserving.   And very frustrating to see that team stay home because they didn't put a ballerina costume on their pig like other schools.

I think that we should start handing out an award to the lowest-rated Pool C team to squeeze into the D3 tourney field:

The Ballerina Pig Award.

Miaa.org already has Hope playing in the finals on Saturday night:  http://miaa.org/composite?date=2015-02-28

It's because the MIAA site is liked with the team sites and Hope has the date marked on their schedule.

Wondered why Hope would put that date on their schedule but when I checked their website I saw the important "if necessary" disclaimer.

Speaking of non-sense things to post about just to post about.  I was pretty disappointed in Mlive.com's  "MIAA Tournament Preview" which failed to preview the Kalamazoo or Olivet women.  Or the Alma and Trine men.  Doesn't seem like much of a preview.

But then I probably don't understand their computer system either.

For the women it is almost understandable (though shoddy journalism) - if anyone but Calvin and Hope make the final, watch out for flying pigs!  For the men's preview it is totally inexcusable.
