Speaking of non-sense things to post about just to post about.  I was pretty disappointed in Mlive.com's  "MIAA Tournament Preview" which failed to preview the Kalamazoo or Olivet women.  Or the Alma and Trine men.  Doesn't seem like much of a preview.

But then I probably don't understand their computer system either.

For the women it is almost understandable (though shoddy journalism) - if anyone but Calvin and Hope make the final, watch out for flying pigs!  For the men's preview it is totally inexcusable.

..and falling karma, because you can't have a sense humor unless you went to the same school. ::)

You all prove my point so well. :)

Tough audience! :o  formerd3db gave me a Hope t-shirt; doesn't that make me an honorary alum? ;D

GreatScot!?

I saw all the Hope and Calvin people posting and realized the Scots have no voice on this forum so decided to make an account, looking forward to the game tomorrow night against a great Calvin team!

Welcome to the board.  Always nice to get some new people posting.  Yes, Thursday's game at the VNA should be very interesting.  The same can be said for the game down at Trine.

I have a feeling Calvin will have some extra motivation after losing in Alma. Not to mention Jordan Brinks terrible shooting night that game. It'll be interesting to see if Alma pressures early like they did in the second half during the comeback and how Calvin will respond to it.

We had a very active Alma supporter a couple of years ago - anyone know what happened to sflzman?

I think the motivation will be high for all 4 teams tomorrow night.  It is pretty much win or your season is done.  Alma has given Calvin fits for the last several years, and with the players they have now Calvin can not afford to have an "off" night.  We have reached the point of the season when there really are few surprises so it comes down to which teams perform best.  If the game goes the way I would like to see it Alma hangs tough until about 4 or 5 minutes left in the game when Calvin's depth will start to show.   The key for Hope is going to be keeping Benson on the floor for 30+ minutes.

If past performance is any indicator of future success than it should be a Calvin/Hope final on Sat, but I remember 1999's MIAA tournament when Defiance beat Albion for the AQ after Hope and Calvin lost in the semi's.

Article from Angola, Indiana

http://www.kpcnews.com/columnists/ken_fillmore/kpcnews/article_99b58dbb-aaa6-594c-92b8-ff2f405074a9.html#.VO8feDhLD4s.twitter

This is actually one of the best small-college basketball articles I've seen (leaps and bounds ahead of anything Mlive puts out there). Many reasons, not the least of which:

1. Playfully points out that there is really nothing to do in Angola IN, so you better attend this game.
2. Compares Hope College to the New York Yankees
3. Feels the need to remind us again of Calvin's 2-0 advantage over Hope in National Championships. I appreciate them finding a way to work that in to an article about Trine vs Hope.

+k to KPC News of Northeast Indiana. I'm already looking forward to their preview of Saturday's Trine-Calvin game.

That article mentions Tri-State's Chad LaCross, I still consider him one of the best players Hope ever played against that I saw at the Civic Center.

Have you ever wondered if he wasn't in the wrong sport?

Calvin did not play an MIAA Tournament home game in 2012. Would this be Hope's first MIAA Tournament without a home game, if the Hope-Alma final doesn't play out?
