Calvin at Marietta in the NCAA's?
Probably not.  Calvin is within the 500 mile radius for lots of Central, and even a few West teams.  Even last year when Calvin played an Ohio school in the first round it was in St. Louis at Wash U. The year before that Calvin went to Rose H. in IN.

One lead change in the game tonight. Unbelievable.

99% of the time when that happens it is because one team scores first, then gets blown out.  I can only recall a handful of games where the ONLY lead is with seconds remaining!  (Though I do recall 2 or 3, including one by IWU, where the first lead ever came in OT.)

Agreed.  IF Marietta even hosts, they will probably host teams from east or south of them.  The upper midwest has a glut of host-worthy schools.

You could be right. It's going to be a very Ohio-centric bracket, what with two NCAC teams from the Buckeye State, two OAC teams, and the HCAC rep will also be from the land that's round on both ends and high in the middle.

But that's if two Great Lakes teams are asked to migrate west. DePauw seems like an even surer ticket to cross over the state line into Illinois, given that: a) it's very far west for a Great Lakes team; and b) the committee is going to want to separate the Dannies from their NCAC brethren Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster as far as sections go.

On the other hand, if Elmhurst makes it in as a Pool C, I could see either the Bluejays or Illinois Wesleyan traveling in the opposite direction.

I remember it happened during the Calvin-Hope 2006 game at the old Knollcrest gym with the Veldhouse shot.

What a game.  Calvin really was sloppy with the ball a majority of the game and of course some of it was due to a scrappy Hope defense.   Calvin's defense looked loss at times and continued to leave Otto wide-open open almost the whole night....very frustrating.    Benson and Otto were electric for Hope.  For a while, Brink look like the only one who could make a shot but finally some of the other seniors, Stout and Dysktra, hit some big shots.    And then we all know what happened the last few minutes with Jordan Brink.

Big play with TJ Huizenga's rebound layup made foul shot too.

Does anybody know why Eidson and McMahon haven't been playing tonight?
Someone told me McMahon broke his nose last game and Eidson had his wrist heavily taped.

Ugly situation at the end of the game with Gardner and a Calvin player laying on the floor being trampled by the Calvin fans storming the court.

I don't think anybody got trampled.

Tyler Dykstra's defense on Blackledge was outstanding. Blackledge 0-7 from the floor.

Dan Stout, a great 14 minutes in the second half with 9 points ( 4-5 shooting) and his physical strength against Benson gave Calvin a huge lift.

Honestly most classless situation I've seen since the malice at the Palace. Ben was definitely getting trampled (was never able to get up after going down the last play of the game)... It took his teammates pushing into the pile to get calvin's team and students off of him. When he came out, he went straight into the locker room and wasn't there for the handshakes. Dykstra was the one pushed off of trampling Ben, and he responded by trying to fight Hope's players. Add all of this to calvin's student section chanting "Otto-matic" when Sam went down injured and the calvin student screaming "F@#$ you!" at the Hope student section from half court during the celebrations, and this was not a very classy night for calvin.

That being said, great comeback for the knights. Hope had their chances to put it away and didn't. I will be glad not to have to see Jordan Brink wearing maroon next year.

Dykstra and Stout were allowed to get away with quite a bit in their defense of Benson and  Blackledge. Hope would have gotten a few more free throw attempts had that been properly officiated. With that said, Hope could have grabbed a rebound or two in the second half to keep the Knights from getting the W

While no one may have been trampled, it was not a pleasant ending to a great game. There was a lot of discussion in the sports world this week about rushing the court. Calvin should have sent a few people in to keep the students under control until the teams were done shaking hands. Then let the pplayers and fans celebrate.

Gotta give some credit; I didn't think the excuses would come until tomorrow.

I don't mind court storming. I actually quite like it. And this win was definitely worth storming the court over considering the circumstance. I would have just hoped that instead of ignoring the fact that Ben was still lying on the ground beneath them, calvin's players would have helped him up and out before continuing the celebration.

Yes - the start of reality - Hope players were getting fouled (mugged, hacked, whatever you want to call it) and it wasn't being called, specifically in the 2nd half. I honestly believe it came down to the fact that the rotation of the officials had Kooiker under the Calvin basket, while Palmer was under the Hope basket. It appeared to me that these two officials were calling the game very differently.

Yes, Hope could have/should have done a couple of things better and won the game, but the officiating contributed to the final outcome. That's not an excuse, it's the reality of what happened IMHO
