Wow!  Negative karma for that?

Every year in March you and your buddy maroonknighty put on your phalice hats and act like giant ones.  Give it a rest.  And no I didn't give you negative karma, I suspect that was one of your fellow Calvin fans who's had enough too.

Pat you may delete this post if you see fit,  I'm harrassed daily by a number of posters who see fit to contribute nothing to the board and ding my karma.  I'm quoted repeatedly to be used as the punchline in one liner jokes.  I've even been stalked on another social media site and had things I've said there posted here.

After virtually every Calvin game oldknight gives a rundown of the game as he sees it.  Same for sac after every Hope game.  I saw oldknight's review of the tournament championship game but, unless I missed it, still nothing from sac.  What do you think happened sac?  Did Mitchell just get out-coached?  Think Matt Neil would have lost 3 this year to the Knights?

I watched Iowa State bounce back from a 22 point deficit to Oklahoma last night and it reminded me of Saturday's game at VanNoord.  Franchise player steps up and takes over.  Similar to what MVP Jordan Brink did on Saturday.

I was surprised Blackledge failed to show up.  Or, maybe it was because Dykstra did show up.

Also surprised with all the comments about the raucous Calvin students.  Usually they are accused of being to quiet and second fiddle to the clever DewCrew.  By the way, do they need some new material?  Rowing?  Still mocking deceased Ernie Crier with their calethsentics?  I think the AD's or CNN should put put a stop to that.  On a more positive mote, the cheerleaders were quite handsome.

Good luck Knights in your coveted tournament appearance!
Wiz, I'm with you in appreciating both OldKnight's and Sac's analyses.  Sac's write-up on the game is on his blog site, where he expresses admiration for Jordan Brink and calls out the Dew Crew for its player taunting, but also questions his further participation here in the aftermath of the negative feedback on his posts.

I'm sure we agree in hoping he (and the other Hope posters who have sworn off posting for awhile), like OldKnight, will continue to inform us and perhaps occasionally provoke us.

Hope is going to have a National Championship contending team next year.  They will be loaded with talent, experience, and depth.  Some of the posters who haven't posted recently will start to make their presence felt here.  Success always draws out more people. We are starting to see that with Trine and Alma.

Wow, rough week.  Then I will recap the Dutchmen performance on your behalf.

I thought Hope was much improved from the previous two games against Calvin.  Sam Otto certainly stepped up big and as noted in previous comments by others he was due for more minutes.  It wasn't until TJ Huizenga was assigned to defend him that he slowed down, but may have also been running out of gas.

Gardner has had some good and not so good games this year.  Though he stepped up big on Saturday.  He can't be blamed for losing the game at the end because Hope should have never let it get to that point.

Benson developed nicely this year and it was on full display against Calvin.  He stayed out of foul trouble and was able to contribute his needed minutes.

Blackledge had Dykstra assigned to him.  Enough said.

Carlson was a failed experiment this year.  Not the floor general of other point men in the league.  I think Hope's best lineup would be Gardner, Eidson, Otto, Blackledge, and Benson.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Mitchell go with that group next year.

I like Greg Mitchell and he will be very successful at Hope.  Will take a year or two to get comfortable with the league.

Hope needs to improve it's rebounding to take up a notch.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to critique it from the Hope side.  I just think to be fair and balanced they deserve to be represented and not just remembered as the people who are so bitter with their loss that they can only talk about a court rush by an ecstatic group of fans.  It has all been addressed by the two schools and I think we should be able to talk some basketball here.

Incidentally, I could care less about my karma and have no idea why such a thing even exists on this board.  Pat?

Speaking of posters who haven't posted recently, where has hoopdreams been?

Anyway,  I'll say an opinion that may be unpopular to some (probably with the fellow Calvin fans more)....but I don't really see the big deal with Hope students doing chants like "We want Daley" or "We love Daley" or whatever the hell they are saying (I do apologize if something worse was chanted (not yelled) that I didn't hear?).  There have been so much worse things chanted among-st each fanbase, and I am frankly confused why this one is getting brought up so much here.  Ty Tanis, Derek Van Solkema, Dustin Smith, Tom Snikkers, and Caleb Veldhouse , just to name some examples, were frequent targets  in terms of frequent opposing student section chants directed at them.  I don't remember those getting that much attention on this board.  I guess those guys were because off the court things, but Daley had a great season and probably deserved 2nd team MIAA....I don't really think these chants bother him.  In-fact I think he's stated that publicly they don't.  This is the collegiate level - things like this good players are going to be able to zone out.

Sac, it sounds like one of your main points is you think the seriousness and dangers of "court-storming" issue at the D3 level should be treated the same as the D1 level in terms of awareness.  While I would agree in some sense , Mlive and Detnews are huge media outlets so I don't think you can be that dissatisfied with your campaign.  Also, court storming has been a hot-topic issue more and more over recent years so this isn't really that new.  Coach K spoke out about it greatly in the 2012-2013 season after a loss at Virginia which cause a lot of national media discussions in the weeks following it.  I don't necessarily think you're starting a revolution here.

I have a feeling Calvin will take action in the up-coming season with court storming in terms of security and prevention measures, but with the ways things usually go, there won't be a court storming for another 6 or so years when people forget about trample-gate.

Hope and Coach Mitchell are going to be absolutely fine.  and I think they deserve to be favored to win the league next year.  Lets not forget it was just in 2012 that Hope went 3-0 vs Calvin.

Now onto Friday....

Not sure who you're referring to nor do I recall many, many requests. But hey, someone today pulled out a post from seven years ago, so if it's many requests over seven years, yeah, I probably just don't remember. If you have posts that violate the TOS, use the report to moderator link so I have a record. I'll definitely take a look.

You did nothing wrong.  Rule of thumb is simple: don't post things on social media if you don't want all on the world wide web to see it.

While I've got you, what are your thoughts on Calvin's chances this weekend?

It wasn't you or those quotes.  I deserved that.  The quote was from earlier this year from another medium, made me pretty uncomfortable.

I think they are both winnable games.  Calvin's experience in the tournament the last 2 years should help them.  KVS has a good track record of having Calvin prepared for tournament games.

Sac, just a suggestion - you can perhaps fix this by making your twitter private, meaning you can control who sees your tweets by accepting sort of a "friend request" similar to facebook.

Wikihow has a pretty nice instructions with screen caps to do this - http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Your-Twitter-Account-Private
