Jordan Brink named NABC All-American. He's just the eighth Calvin hoopster ever so honored. It's a pretty select list.

Yep -- they pick 24 players and we pick 25. I don't like how the NABC puts eight players on a team, because a coach can't put eight players on the floor, and I don't like that the 40-team regions get the same representation as the 60-team or 80-team regions, but they are recognizing a reasonable number of kids, so I give them props.

I think OK was referencing the select nature of the list of Calvin players that have been honored in the past by NABC--Tom Newhoff, Mark Veenstra, Dan Davis, Bill Sall, Steve Honderd, Aaron Winkle and Jeremy Veenstra--not that the NABC list is somehow a more select list than d3hoops.com. The NABC also spans several more decades of history than the d3hoops.com All American teams. Congrats to Jordan as the accolades continue to roll in.

The immediate antecedent to the impersonal pronoun "it" in the last sentence was the phrase "the eighth Calvin hoopster ever so honored" so HCG reads my post correctly. 8-)

For all Hope fans struggling with the end of the Corey McMahon Era.

Brink, Dykstra, and Stout will also participate.

That's a pretty cool postseason All-Star game. I wish Chicagoland had something like it.

There is also a high school version.   Used to be on the same weekend.

During the semi final games last evening (Fri) in Salem I noticed KVS sitting on the front row along the scoring bench.  Was he there as a regional representtive or something of that nature?

Yep -- he is the chair of the Great Lakes regional committee.

Thanks.  I figured that had to be the connection.

Looks like Brink had a nice all-star game.  15 points I think.

In the 18 years d3hoops.com has designated an All-America team, Brink joins only 4 other MIAA-ers named to the 1st team: Joel Holstege, Aaron Winkle, Brandon Crawford, and Jesse Reimink.

Steve is doing a great job.  I never realized he played for Adrian. ;)

I actually found this out a couple years ago when I saw him at an Adrian game wearing a Ypsi High athletic jacket.  I don't know why it slipped my mind.  I was reminded today reading a preview of tomorrow's QF games in the Detroit Free Press.

Deyonta Davis of Muskegon is Mr. Basketball beating out Eric Davis, Saginaw Arthur Hills and Trevor Manuel of Lansing Everett.

Davis goes up against Manuel tomorrow night at Lansing Eastern's Don Johnson Fieldhouse.  A couple in the local media are anticipating the largest crowd in that building since Magic Johnson's Everett team went up against Eastern in the late 70's that drew a standing room 4000+.  Its a big building and hard to fill like that these days.

Interesting article about Manuel from last week
