Based on their highlights, they both look to be very competitive  players in the MIAA.  Both seemed to have excellent overall offensive skills, both shooting and passing.  Carlos Amoros showed quickness that would really help Calvin.

They made every shot! That's going to be tough to stop for everyone else in the MIAA.

The comment about them making every shot brings out one good point about highlight videos.  Over the years it has always been difficult to know from highlight videos how the skills will translate to college.  The jump from high school star to even getting in the game at the college level is huge--as we have seen from the struggles of previous high school stars who have to make big adjustments to even get on the floor on the college.  So until we see them in a college game it is always tough to know if they will have an impact or even get on the floor.  Even though the level of play in the MIAA is far below the near professional levle of division I, it is still a huge jump from high school competition.

The later part of this article talks about the things the rules committee will be looking at for next year.  Interesting changes if they occur.

With 14 varsity players able to return next year, coupled with 1 or 2 JV players that might get a varsity slot Hope was a tough sell to any kid who could play at a higher level or could play right away at another D3.  I don't think I'm too far off in saying Hope swung for the fences on a couple pretty good players who would have helped next years team right away, one went to another D3, one will be a preferred walk-on at a Big 10 school that made the Final Four.  Tough losses but neither was very surprising and I honestly don't know how close Hope was to being the final choice for either.

I haven't seen any names public yet but I'm sure they'll get a few guys they can develop for a year at the JV level.  Unless Hope gets a surprise in the next few weeks I'm not sure this class is going to have much impact on the 2015-16 Flying Dutchmen.  Pretty hard year to recruit with a sudden coaching change and roster with little to no room.

Next winter will be Hope's big recruiting year where they'll have to replace 6 Seniors with 6 more ready to depart the following year.

I think tomorrow(Friday) is Hope's deposit day.

One of those articles mentioned that 6'5 Austin Woolett of Goshen (IN) HS (14.7 ppg, 8.5 rpg) has chosen Trine.

Teddy Ray - 6'5" wing with a great outside touch is coming to Hope. Teddy played on the Indiana 4A State Championship team for 2015 (with Caleb Swannigan who is headed to MSU). Teddy is the younger brother of former Flying Dutchman Chris Ray.

So three Hoosiers coming to Hope.

Hope will have 2 Indiana 4A Champions in the program.  Indiana and Purdue have one combined.

Yeah but check this one out - the Big Ten has more DIII final four participants than the entire MIAA.

In addition to the Wyoming High School point guard Carlos Amoros, Calvin has secured commitments from two other interesting backcourt contenders.

One is a Chicago-bred transfer, Gregory Fleming, 6-1, 170 lbs, who played last year at Grand Rapids Community College, where he averaged a little under 13 ppg and just under 6 rpg.
According to the GRCC website, Fleming played for the University of Wisconsin-Marinette his first year in college in 2013-14 and was named the team's top defensive player while also averaging 16.3 ppg and 8 rebounds/game.

He comes in with junior eligibility.

The other is Andrew Holesinger, who posted his Calvin College commit on his Twitter feed. He graduates this year from North Pointe Christian in Grand Rapids, where he helped lead the Mustangs to a state championship berth this spring.  He's 6-4 and known as a strong defender and passer.
