The WIAC is well represented on Hope's schedule, including your Pointers :)

Thanks for the link, Sac.  A question:  Might Hope and Calvin not do this because they anticipate having a dozen players or so on their jv teams, plus often one or two new players on their varsity . . . and don't want, in advance of tryouts and team formation, to elevate some recruits over others?

sac

Possibly.  Matt Neil released a list the first year.  I just like that Alma went and got actual quotes and personal info from their kids.

The D3hoops.com Classic schedule is finalized:

(I did not pick up on the fact that Whitworth/Calvin tips at 11 p.m. ET. Sorry about that, audience.)

Rules changes approved for the men.

30-sec shot clock
4 ft restricted area
reduction in timeouts

I haven't seen these mentioned in any write-up yet.  These will probably be the officials "points of emphasis" next Winter

• Perimeter defense, particularly on the dribbler and strictly enforcing the directives put in the book before the 2013-14 season.
• Physicality in post play.
• Screening, particularly moving screens and requiring that the screener be stationary.
• Block/charge plays.
• Allowing greater freedom of movement for players without the ball.

Actually sac... in Division III the restricted arc won't move until the '16-'17 season.

I'm glad they're doing some of these things, particularly the emphasis on moving screens. I know the NCAA has been trying to open up play, but I think a way to do that is to slow the players down and enforce the rules.

For offenses this means:

--Make screeners actually be stationary and don't allow them to initiate contact.
--Make ball handlers dribble the ball and don't allow them to carry it.
--Make ball handlers dribble the ball and don't allow them to travel.

For defenses this means:

--Make defenders defend with positioning, not with their hands or body.

BTW sac - what do you mean by "I haven't seen these mentioned in any write-up yet?" You seemed to have copied straight from the NCAA press release. I'd call that a write-up LOL.

actually I got them from a tweet on twitter, so no they weren't from the NCAA on my end.  Maybe the person who tweeted them got it from the NCAA, I don't know.

Now that I think about it, it was a link from a tweet but it wasn't from the NCAA's website.  It was a message board.

Gotcha... it's word for word from the release... I was just getting a kick of it... no worries :)
