Alma's schedule:  http://www.goalmascots.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/schedule

By my count the Scots are missing 2 games.

Looks like Alma is gettin' tight with the CCIW. Four consecutive games vs Elmhurst, North Park, North Central, and Wheaton.

Also 4 non-conference Sunday games. Is this common either for Alma in particular or among MIAA teams in general?

Sunday games are not unusual for most MIAA teams - they are non-existent for Hope or Calvin.

Did I miss the everybody log on at 2:45 memo?

only Hope and Calvin are restricted from Sunday play.  (and St. Mary's on the women's side, probably)

Saint Mary's can play on Sundays.

I don't know any Catholic schools that won't play on Sunday, Easter Sunday aside.

I would at least hope that St. Mary's would not play on May 3, Bing Crosby's birthday.

I'm afraid all our posters either haven't had a NPU education or just aren't familiar with the crooner's repertoire.

The nickname of St. Mary's sports teams is the Belles ... and, no, it's not a coincidence.

There's nothing sadder than having to explain what you thought was a good joke but which apparently sailed clear over people's heads.

Not the first time I've done it, won't be the last, either. ;)

I can assure you it didn't sail over my head, or probably that of most MIAA followers.

That's good to know, FDF. But help a guy out, people ... next time, give me a golf clap or a groan, or something. ;)

Thus far, with not every school having posted a schedule yet, I count 17 games slated between the CCIW and MIAA for 2015-16, with a possible (and very likely) 18th:

North Park @ Adrian
Millikin vs. Adrian (@ Trine)
Albion @ Elmhurst
Albion @ North Park
Albion @ North Central
Alma @ Elmhurst
North Park @ Alma
North Central @ Alma
Alma @ Wheaton
Wheaton @ Hope
Carthage @ Hope
North Park @ Trine
Millikin @ Trine
Calvin vs. Carthage (@ Hope)
Calvin vs. Wheaton (@ Hope)
Carthage @ Olivet
Olivet @ Elmhurst

Six are on our side of the lake, eleven on yours, with eight of those eleven being true home games and the other three (Millikin vs. Adrian @ Trine, plus Calvin vs. Carthage and Calvin vs. Wheaton, both at DeVos) being quasi-home games.

The possible 18th game is in the misnamed 2015 Carthage Classic (it's a championship-format tourney, not a classic-format tourney), which features opening-night pairings of Adrian vs. Robert Morris-Peoria and Iowa Wesleyan @ Carthage. Given that RMUP went 1-19 last season while Iowa Wesleyan hasn't exactly burned up the track since joining D3, I think it's a good bet that Carthage and Adrian will be meeting in the title game.

Speaking of tourneys, has anybody else noticed that the annual CCIW/MIAA classic tourney that will be held at DeVos this coming season is now officially called the Midwest Challenge? I'm not sure I like the new name, since St. Norbert, Beloit, Lake Forest, Monmouth, and their ilk have nothing to do with it. Plus, the name sounds a bit pedestrian. I wish they'd have dubbed it something that had more flair -- the Battle of Lake Michigan, for example, or the Cross-Lake Showdown, or something like that.

Maybe ESPN8 picked up the broadcasting rights and insisted on a "re-branding".

Here's some scheduling frustration for you......

On Thursday Dec 17 Capital, OH will travel to play at Olivet

On Friday and Saturday the 18th and 19th,  Hope hosts its classic with Olivet, Hanover and Grace Bible.  Unless Capital has a scheduling conflict they could have come to Holland on Fri/Sat and still played Olivet plus either Hanover or Hope.  Capital is likely playing an OAC game on that Saturday.
